🚀 Drift Protocol Develops Recovery Plan After $285 Million Crypto Theft
Drift Protocol, which recently suffered a theft of $285 million in crypto assets, has provided an update on the situation via the X platform. According to Odaily, the company is actively working with partners to formulate a coordinated recovery plan. The current focus is on stabilizing the situation and offering protocol-level assurances to all affected users and partners. Drift emphasized its role as a core infrastructure provider for many, and announced plans to participate in the Solana Foundation's security project, STRIDE, with more details to be released in the future.

🚀 Circle's Strategic Chief Responds to Drift Protocol Theft Incident
Circle's Chief Strategy Officer, Dante Disparte, has addressed the April 1 incident involving the theft of over $270 million from Drift Protocol. According to Foresight News, Disparte clarified that Circle only freezes USDC when legally compelled, emphasizing that this is not a unilateral decision. He explained that the mechanism is part of a framework designed to protect holders from arbitrary interference. Disparte highlighted the challenge faced by open systems, where legal frameworks lag behind technological advancements. He stressed that protocols, wallets, exchanges, and stablecoin issuers should view security and accountability as shared responsibilities. Disparte suggested that DeFi protocols could develop on-chain protective measures inspired by traditional market circuit breakers. He also urged that the legislative process for the U.S. GENIUS Act and CLARITY Act should incorporate standards for due process, property rights, and financial privacy protection before the next major security incident occurs.

🚀 Kamino Introduces Whitelisted Reserves Following Solana Exploit
Kamino has launched Whitelisted Reserves, a smart contract feature designed to restrict lending vault allocations to reserves approved by the protocol. According to NS3.AI, this development comes shortly after the approximately $270 million exploit of the Drift Protocol on Solana. The new feature is now active on all vaults displayed on Kamino's frontend, with withdrawals still dependent on available liquidity.

🚀 Gibbs Mura Investigates Drift Protocol Theft in Class Action
Gibbs Mura, a U.S. law firm, has announced a class action investigation into the theft involving Drift Protocol, with the funds involved estimated between $280 million and $285 million. According to ChainCatcher, over $230 million in USDC was transferred to Ethereum via Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP).
Gibbs Mura argues that although Circle has the technical capability to freeze funds, it did not take such action during the attack. The firm is currently assessing whether investors can claim against Circle for 'failure to intervene timely,' 'insufficient monitoring,' and 'not fulfilling stablecoin responsibilities.' Affected users are encouraged to join the lawsuit to aid in the recovery of funds.

🚀 North Korean Crypto Theft Funds Military Expenditures, Experts Warn
Security experts have highlighted that cryptocurrency theft is increasingly being used to finance North Korea's military activities. According to NS3.AI, researchers have observed a months-long infiltration targeting Drift Protocol, indicating a shift in North Korean operations. These activities have expanded beyond phishing to include attacks on exchanges, wallet services, and key permission holders of DeFi protocols.

🚀 Solana's Drift Protocol Suffers $285 Million Loss in Security Breach
Drift Protocol experienced a significant security breach on April 1, 2026, resulting in a loss of $285 million. According to NS3.AI, attackers managed to drain Solana's largest perpetual futures exchange within approximately 12 minutes. The exploit was facilitated by a governance setup that utilized a two-of-five multisig and a zero-delay path for privileged actions. The attackers spent six months cultivating trust with insiders, leading to two Security Council members pre-signing transactions with hidden authorizations. In response to the breach, the Solana Foundation launched STRIDE, a foundation-backed continuous security program, just days after the incident.
