Сегодня были две новости про ВК: финансовый отчёт за первый квартал и подписание соглашения о покупке Яндекс Дзена и Яндекс Новостей. Как компания VK убыточна: уже более 4 лет нет стабильной прибыли, но это на самом деле нормально. Бизнесу такого масштаба не выгодно просто сидеть и снимать деньги, выгодно вкладываться куда-то, изучать новые направления, расти, в том числе, залезая в долг. Вот в первом квартале потратили прямо очень много, больше, чем обычно тратят. И тут пока ещё не учтена покупка Дзена, сделка в лишь в процессе. С одной стороны, компания тратит и пытается как-то развиваться. С другой стороны, надо понять, как и на что тратит. Судя по всему, рынок в ВК не очень верит: акции компании непрерывно падают примерно с середины 2020-го, и скорость этого падения значительно возросла после смены гендиректора в прошлом году. На самом деле немного жаль ВК. И как продукт, и конкретно людей из команды. Реально же крутые спецы. Статьи на Хабре от ВК отличные, там под капотом действительно немало интересных технологий, которые делаются компетентными людьми (ну, кроме системы рекомендаций в ленте, конечно, она не работает совсем). А ещё у ВК сильные дизайнеры — я об этом уже когда-то писал. Графический дизайн действительно продуман, хорошие гайдлайны, и компания их раздаёт для всех. Что касается остального, то конечно UI/UX есть, за что ругать, но у ВК хотя бы проблемы в UI/UX просто обычные, а не как у Фейсбука — катастрофически-фатальные. Не перестаю повторять, что из всех текстовых площадок у ВК неизменно лучший инструментарий. Лучше, чем в Телеграме, и уж точно на две головы лучше, чем в Фейсбуках с Инстаграмами. Но, увы, проблемы и с репутацией, и с аудиторией, и с менеджментом, и с позиционированием. Я пишу посты каждый день, и очень многие — включая некоторых сотрудников ВК — говорят, что им нравится меня читать. А ещё люди с радостью участвуют в обсуждениях. Но число подписчиков здесь стоит, с начала года стабильных каждодневных постов оно фактически не увеличилось. Хотя в Телеграме — где вообще нет источников трафика — удвоилось. Может ли этому помочь покупка Дзена? В прошлый раз я предположил, что из Дзена сделают русский ютуб. Это не так плохо, потому что русского ютуба не хватает даже безотносительного того, заблокируют ли основной ютуб. Нет у нас просто хорошего хостинга для видео. А вот чтобы сделать что-то с текстовой частью Дзена нужна очень сильная управленческая воля, мне кажется, такой у VK сейчас нет. Нужно и от мусора чистить, и — самое главное — качество аудитории повышать, причем, значительно. Для этого требуются радикальные перестановки, от которых у многих людей пригорит. А ещё эти перестановки могут значительно уронить количественные метрики, что плохо будет выглядеть в отчётах. Так что надежды у меня мало, на самом деле. Но посмотрим. #web
