Former Syrian Army Brigadier General assassinated in his home in Damascus
An armed terrorist group affiliated with the #HTS-led General Security stormed the home of Brig. Gen. Munir Othman in the Masakin al-Dimas area near #Damascus and assassinated him in front of his wife and children early this morning, January 1.
Brig. Gen. Munir Othman had previously undergone a so-called “reconciliation= Taswiya” process following the fall of the former government and was not involved in any military or political activity.
Sources report that Othman had been subjected to pressure by security officials in #Damascus to relinquish ownership of his home and farm. He was summoned for interrogation multiple times in an effort to force him to give up his property, despite the absence of any evidence linking him to war crimes. After he refused to surrender his assets, security operatives reportedly assassinated him inside his home.
The so-called “reconciliation = Taswiya/تسوية” process was announced by Jolani regime and requires former members of the previous armed forces to report to reconciliation centers and voluntarily surrender their weapons and military IDs in exchange for assurances that they would not be pursued.
It is worth noting that the same area, Masakin al-Dimas, witnessed the killing of another Alawite man, Ali Bassam Tamer, just one day earlier.
The leader of the #Druze community in #Syria, Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, declared on Thursday that there is "no harmony or agreement with the authorities in #Damascus" while remaining silent of rapproachment with #Israel.
Although he Druze religious authorities in Sweida have rejected any rapprochement with the Israeli occupation, Druze figures visited the occupied Golan this week for the first time in 50 years, despite a religious prohibition issued by the clerics of the Syrian village of Hadar against those participating in the visit.
Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri did not taken a clear stance but stated that he "will move in a direction that serves the interests of the Druze community."
Quoting security sources, the Israeli Walla! News Website revealed that the commander-in-chief of the new Syrian administration, Abo Mohammad Al-Joulani prevented Iranian airliners from using Syrian airspace. According to Walla!, this decision will make it difficult for Iran to move in the Middle East as before.

NE. #Damascus: The body of Walid Nasib Tarboush, a Sunni Muslim in his forties, was found in the mountains of the #Maarouna area, northwest of Damascus (a remote region), after he died from a gunshot wound. This occurred yesterday, April 25, 2026.
According to local sources, an armed group kidnapped the victim on April 20, 2026, in the #Duwayla neighborhood, east of Damascus. The group proceeded to extort his family, demanding a ransom payment and using foreign phone numbers to make contact. They subsequently killed him after his family refused to meet their demands.
"Syria Al-Julani regime released kidnapped Druze kids after months of detention
The Jolani regime has released two Druze brothers, Yanal Bashar al-Haddad (15) and Qais Bashar al-Haddad (13), who had been detained at Adra Prison in #Damascus since their arrest during the attack on #Suwayda on July 15, 2025.
Its worth noting that terriost regime kidnapped and killed a lot of Druze and Alawites kids and women (see links on X post)
❗️ Note that the terrorist regime refuse to hold accountable the militants who committed massacres against the #Alawites or #Druze, and label them as “mojahdin” =jihadists, because fighting against “infidel” minorities is considered a heroic act in their eyes."

📰 Syria’s Kurds Fold: Government Absorbs Militia After Clashes
After weeks of sporadic fighting, Syria’s government and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (S.D.F.) have agreed to a cease-fire and full merger of the militia into the national military. The deal hands the government control of most of the S.D.F.’s former territory, including key dams, oil fields, and border crossings, leaving only Hasakah under Kurdish authority.
End of Autonomy
The Kurds, Syria’s largest ethnic minority, have long fought for autonomy, establishing their own administration and legal system in the northeast. But recent battlefield losses left them in a weak position, forcing concessions. The government will now run all prisons, including Al-Hol, which holds thousands of Islamic State detainees and their families—a major concern for the U.S.-led coalition.
U.S. Caught in the Middle
The U.S. has backed both the government and the S.D.F., making this merger a diplomatic headache. While U.S. officials welcome the cease-fire, they worry about losing influence and the fate of the Islamic State prisoners. The new agreement means S.D.F. fighters will join the military as individuals, not as a unified force, further weakening Kurdish leverage.
Who Really Wins?
For the interim government, the deal consolidates control and access to Syria’s resources. For the Kurds, it’s a major retreat from autonomy. But with ethnic minorities still uneasy and the U.S. watching closely, can this uneasy peace hold—or is it just another chapter in Syria’s endless cycle of power struggles?
