On July 31-August 3, Tehran hosted a high-ranking Syrian delegation, which included Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Samer al-Khalil (the Syrian co-chairman of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission), Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Miqdad, and Minister of Communications and Technology Iyad al-Khatib, to discuss the implementation of the decisions taken during the recent visit to Damascus by the Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi. A wide range of issues of economic and legal cooperation was covered, including agriculture, oil and gas, electric power projects, along with the issues of establishing a joint bank and an insurance company to finance foreign trade, participation of Iranian investors in the reconstruction of Syria, electronic exchange of customs information and experiences in the customs and financial fields, etc. Besides, Faisal Miqdad discussed with the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Gen. Ali Akbar Ahmadian the situation in Syria and in the Middle East. The Syrian delegation was also received by President Ibrahim Raisi, who emphasized Iran's support for the Syrian demand of the full withdrawal of illegal foreign troops restoring Damascus's control over the whole country.
