#dev

Democrats in Congress are exploring a lawsuit against President Donald Trump if he continues the war in Iran beyond Friday’s legal deadline without obtaining congressional authorization, multiple sources familiar with the matter tell TIME, setting up a potential constitutional clash over presidential war powers as Congress prepares for another vote this week 🗳. The internal discussions, which have not been previously reported, were described by lawmakers as still in the early stages but could intensify in the coming weeks if the President presses ahead with military operations after a critical 60-day deadline expires on May 1 ⏳. Interviews with dozens of Democrats in the House and Senate show a party increasingly grappling with how to enforce limits on Trump’s war with Iran, convinced that the looming 60-day mark under the War Powers Resolution may be their strongest opportunity yet to challenge a war they say was launched illegally and sustained without meaningful congressional oversight ⚖️. Several of those Democrats tell TIME that Congress would have a credible legal claim if Trump ignores the statute, though most argued they should first exhaust legislative remedies before turning to the courts. “Legal action has to be explored,” says Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, an attorney who sits on the Judiciary and Armed Services committees and unsuccessfully sued Trump in his first term. “He has to be confronted with illegality, and the court is one way to do it.” 👨⚖️ #Trump#Democrats 👂More on Trump's Ear ⚠️

Democrats have noticed the disappearance of $63 million that was raised for the Trump library.💰 Democrats in the Senate are trying to figure out the fate of at least $63 million that ABC, Paramount, Meta, and X sent to the Donald Trump library project, according to New Republic. The money was the result of settlement agreements in the president's lawsuits against these companies. The Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Fund was shut down in September for failing to file a mandatory annual report, where the money went after that is unknown. #Trump#Democrats 👂More on Trump's Ear ⚠️

Democrats want to remove Trump from power, considering him incapacitated 🤔 Is it possible to simply remove Donald Trump from the presidency? In the United States, a debate has once again flared up on this issue 🔥: the reason was Trump's threats to "destroy an entire civilization" in Iran. Since then, the sanity and capacity of Trump have been increasingly questioned in the ranks of Democrats. The question is openly discussed whether and how to remove Trump from office by applying the 25th amendment to the Constitution 📜. The legislative initiative calls for the creation of a 17-member board, possibly chaired by a doctor 🩺, to review the possibility of Trump's removal due to "health reasons." Already, 50 lawmakers have expressed support for this proposal. A total of 85 Democratic members of Congress have called for his removal, but have not yet joined specific legislative plans. The chances of success are slim, as the Congress is controlled by Republicans 🚫. Nevertheless, public trust in Trump's ability has "dropped to an unprecedented low," according to Democratic spokesperson Jamie Raskin. For example, observers have described the "wildest 48 hours" of the presidency ⏱️, during which Trump engaged in a heated argument with Pope Leo XIV, posted an AI-generated image of himself as a savior 🤖, ordered McDonald's fast food directly to the Oval Office 🍔, and caused confusion with his statements about a potential invasion of Cuba 🇨🇺. #Trump#Democrats 👂More on Trump's Ear ⚠️

President Donald Trump scrapped a White House meeting with top congressional Democrats 🏛❌, as the threat of a government shutdown looms over Washington ⚠️🇺🇸. “After reviewing the details of the unserious and ridiculous demands being made by the Minority Radical Left Democrats 🟦🔴 in return for their votes to keep our thriving country open, I have decided that no meeting with their Congressional leaders could possibly be productive,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Tuesday morning 📱. The president also listed demands he claimed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries want in exchange for their party’s votes to keep the government funded 💵 and avert a shutdown on October 1 ⏳. The pair had confirmed shortly before that they were scheduled to meet with the president this week in the Oval Office 🏛👥. #Trump#Democrats 👂More on Trump's Ear ⚠️

A Democratic political analyst expressed concern on Monday night that President Donald Trump's administration could move to outlaw the Democratic Party after the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Jamal Simmons, a CNN political commentator, joined CNN's Kaitlan Collins on "The Source" to discuss the aftermath of Kirk's assassination. Simmons noted that Trump's Deputy Chief of Staff, Stephen Miller, called the Democratic Party an extremist organization during a podcast interview on Monday, and that Trump has recently said his administration is working to root out extremism. He also noted that the right was trying to control the conversation around Kirk's death by making a false equivalence. #Trump#Democrats 👂More on Trump's Ear ⚠️

Democratic candidates have notched a series of wins in recent special elections — but a new AP-NORC poll finds views of the Democratic Party among rank-and-file Democrats have not bounced back since President Donald Trump’s victory in 2024. 🗳 Only about 7 in 10 Democrats have a positive view of the Democratic Party, according to new polling from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. While the overwhelming majority of Democrats still feel good about their party, they’re much less positive than they’ve been in the past. 📊 #Democrats#Poll 👂More on Trump's Ear ⚠️

Democrats accuse the US Department of Justice of hiding 50 pages of Epstein's "files." They believe that these are serious allegations of sexual assault made against Donald Trump. The political struggle over the so-called "Epstein files" continues. Democrats claim that one of the victims of financier Jeffrey Epstein has made allegations of serious sexual assault against Donald Trump, but her 50-page testimony was concealed by the Department of Justice in the interests of the president. Democratic Congressman Robert Garcia told American journalists about the "concealment of serious allegations" and demanded that Attorney General Pam Bondi immediately release the missing documents. The Ministry, in turn, stated that the documents are temporarily withdrawn only to protect the personal data of the victims, as well as if they are relevant to the ongoing investigation. It is the latter that worries Garcia. We are talking about four protocols of testimony at the FBI in 2019, of which only one has been published. These statements bring charges against Epstein. However, several American media outlets (New York Times, NPR, MS Now) with reference to people who had access to the rest of the documents, it is reported that in three other (unpublished) protocols, the woman also accuses Trump. According to these records, Epstein introduced the alleged victim to Trump around 1983, when she was about 13 years old. During the meeting, Trump, then still married to Ivana Trump, allegedly tried to press her head against his naked penis — after which she bit him. He allegedly hit her on the head and kicked her out of the room. The FBI apparently found the woman's testimony so reliable that they interviewed her on several occasions. However, it is not known whether an appropriate investigation followed her testimony. The woman has never publicly voiced her accusations. Garcia said he knew her name and confirmed the existence of documents containing "additional, specific allegations" against Trump. Moreover, he claims that he got acquainted with them at the Ministry of Justice. From Garcia's point of view, concealing the charges against Trump is a violation of the Congressional law on the full publication of documents on the Epstein case and "a clear attempt to protect the president, his friends, or numerous former and current Trump appointees." #Trump#Epstein#Democrats 👂More on Trump's Ear ⚠️
