Питер Уоттс, «Ложная слепота». Прочитал эту книгу по рекомендации, и оказалось в точку — очень самобытная наполненная интересными идеями твёрдая научная фантастика. Из тех, которые надолго запоминаешь, и идеи из которых хочется вспоминать и обсуждать в каких-нибудь разговорах потом. Будущее, человечество в состоянии технологической сингулярности. Уже есть репликаторы, создающие абсолютно любой предмет, уже есть бессмертие в виде загрузки сознания в сеть. Различные импланты и кибер-дополнения стали обыденностью. Семей давно не существует, а в отношения люди вступают, как правило, через виар (при этом лично тоже видятся, но в основном для совместной работы, если это необходимо). Некоторые люди сильно сплетены с искусственным интеллектом и решают различные глобальные проблемы, при этом общаться с ними остальные не могут — не понимают, слишком большой разрыв в мышлении. Для такого общения существуют «синтеты» — люди с наполовину кибернетическим мозгом, способные понимать людей-компьютеров и рассказывать простым «исходникам», как их называют, что имелось ввиду. Конкретно главный герой тоже синтет, он лишён эмпатии, а поведение, похожее на человеческое, в основном эмулирует. Ещё в этом мире есть вампиры, и это прикольный ход для твёрдой научной фантастики: по сюжету это мутация людей, параллельная ветка развития. Вампиры умнее, быстрее и сильнее человека. Но, вот незадача, в их зрительной коре есть дефект, вызывающий эпилептический припадок каждый раз, когда вампир видит большое количество прямых углов. В живой природе прямых углов нет, поэтому эволюция не помешала этому багу развиться. Можете догадаться, каким именно образом люди в итоге их победили в прошлом :) Вампиры вымерли, а потом были людьми воскрешены из раскопок и поставлены под контроль именно с помощью этого дефекта. В общем, в какой-то момент над землёй появляется куча инопланетных зондов, которые одновременно сгорают и отдают сигнал куда-то вовне. Туда снаряжают экспедицию, которая должна совершить первый контакт и разобраться, что происходит. А дальше крутая смесь детектива, ужасов и философского трактата. Отдельно порадовали моменты, в которых сначала происходит какая-то жуткая непонятная крипота, а потом у всего находится логичное и научное объяснение. Ещё много сильнейших высказываний о мышлении и природе сознания, заставляющих надолго задуматься. В каком-то смысле мне больше понравилась представленная здесь модель непознаваемого инопланетного разума, чем в «Солярисе». Следует отметить своеобразный язык: кажется что автор немного злоупотребляет научным стилем и терминами, в реальности люди (даже учёные) разговаривали бы проще, на мой взгляд, и автор в некотором смысле заигрывает с аудиторией, для которой важна эта внешняя стилистика. Тем не менее, каких-то известных мне научных противоречий я не нашёл. Всё по делу, и автор явно хорошо готовился. Если любите твёрдую НФ и, прочитав первые 20-30 страниц, привыкните к стилю, то очень рекомендую. #fiction
