Пока ждал одну книгу, прослушал совсем короткую "Этический инженер" Гарри Гаррисона (в других переводах "Специалист по этике"). Вообще, Гаррисона я когда-то начинал читать — "Крыса из нержавеющей стали" — но по каким-то причинам бросил, не помню. А тут вот вчитался (вслушался). По современным меркам сюжет избитый — человек из развитой цивилизации попадает в мир, едва дошедший до парового двигателя, и начинает там своими знаниями совершать революцию во всех смыслах. Но книга вышла в 1964 году, так что это скорее последующие авторы романов о попаданцах вдохновлялись ей, а не наоборот. Еще могу отметить, что повествование очень сжатое, без лишней воды, события идут плотно, поэтому даже при сравнительной простоте вполне цепляет и не даёт скучать. Задумался о том, что, если у школьной литературы была задача познакомить меня с, собственно, литературой, то эта задача в значительной мере провалена. Большая часть программы была сосредоточена на русской классике и практически полностью игнорировала как зарубежных авторов, так и — что самое обидное — другие жанры. Мне трудно представить, в каком восторге я был бы от вещей вроде "Этического инженера" в старшей школе. Я совершенно точно хотел бы узнать о существовании многих авторов, жанров и произведений еще в 14-18 лет, а не только сейчас, когда есть интернет, и когда я сам прикладываю много усилий к поиску книг. #fiction

A legal group submitted to the #UN the most thorough legal analysis of Israel's actions concluding it is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. This is probably the most complete report to date that demonstrates how #Israel's attacks on #Palestinians in #Gaza meet the legal definition of #genocide. It's a 100-page report, by legal experts at #Boston University School of Law, #Cornell Law School, #Yale Law School, and others. The report's conclusion: "Israel has committed the #genocidal acts of #killing, causing serious harm to, and inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical #destruction of #Palestinians in #Gaza, a protected group that forms a substantial part of the Palestinian people. These #genocidal acts have been motivated by the requisite genocidal intent, as evidenced in this report by the statements of #Israeli leaders, the character of the State and its forces’ conduct against and relating to Palestinians in Gaza, and the direct nexus between them."
