World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo a public health emergency of international concern as cases continue spreading across the region. Health officials say around 246 suspected cases and 80 deaths have already been reported in eastern Congo, with confirmed cases now detected in Kinshasa and neighboring Uganda. The WHO warned the outbreak could become far larger than currently detected, especially due to population movement, insecurity, and the lack of approved vaccines or treatments for the Bundibugyo strain.
