Happy May Day, dear comrades! 🔻In July 1889, the Paris Congress of the Second International, in memory of the workers' demonstration (1886), decided to hold annual May Day demonstrations. 🔻During the Soviet era, May 1st was widely celebrated with parades and performances by workers and creative teams. 🔻I myself remember the mandatory participation of schoolchildren in these parades. We made huge white or red flowers🌷out of crepe paper with our own hands and waved them during the parade. It was fun, by the way. 🔻Now, the May Day celebrations are simpler; it's more of an opportunity to spend the day with loved ones and family. 🔻May Day is often associated with шашлыки [shash-ly-ki] barbecues, as warm weather arrives during this holiday period, and Russians enjoy spending time with family and friends in the forest or at their dachas.
