The #COVID19 pandemic caused a global and national decline in immunisation coverage. While more than 4 million more children were vaccinated globally in 2022 compared to 2021, there were still 20 million children who missed out on one or more of their vaccines. Parents/caregivers are urged to visit any primary health care centre to get their children/wards up to date with their vaccination. #WorldImmunisationWeek

#COVID19 vaccines provide protection against severe illness and death due to infection by helping the body develop immunity to the virus. One person’s choice to get vaccinated could lead to saving many more lives. Of the 3,036 confirmed cases of #diphtheria recorded so far in 2024, most of the cases occurred among children aged 1 - 14 years, with those aged 5-14 years bearing most of the brunt of the disease. Parents and caregivers should ensure that their children/ward are fully vaccinated against #diphtheria. #StaySafeStayHealthy #VaccinesWork #AfricanVaccination #WorldImmunisationWeek
