In a social media post following the meeting, the prime minister said the discussions focused on key multilateral issues, without providing additional details about specific outcomes or agreements.

The government of #Ethiopia has declined to renew accreditation for three Addis Abeba-based journalists from #Reuters and withdrawn the accreditation to cover the 39th African Union (#AU) Summit, days after the news agency published an investigative report alleging Ethiopia is hosting a training facility linked to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In a written response to Addis Standard, a Reuters spokesperson confirmed that the Ethiopian government declined to renew the journalists’ accreditation and also withdrew the outlet’s accreditation for the AU Summit.

#TPLF welcomes #AU call for restraint, reaffirms commitment to dialogue
The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has welcomed a call by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, urging restraint amid renewed tensions in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, reaffirming that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving outstanding issues with the federal government.
In a letter sent late on Saturday and addressed to the AU Commission Chairperson, the TPLF said it appreciates the African Union’s engagement in support of peace and stability in Ethiopia, noting that it takes “positive note” of the AU’s concern over recent developments in Tigray.
The party further expressed its readiness to engage constructively in any dialogue initiative facilitated by the African Union, including through the AU High-Level Panel on Ethiopia, aimed at advancing “peace, confidence-building, and reconciliation.”

According to a statement released today, the Commission chairperson welcomed the UN chief’s continued engagement with African priorities, stressing that AU–UN cooperation remains central to advancing peace, security, and development amid growing global uncertainty. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation aligned with Africa’s continental agenda and the principles of the UN Charter.
The statement said discussions focused on regional peace and security, sustainable development, and inclusive economic transformation.
