Из проживающих сегодня в мире 7,6 миллиардов человек, численность населения трудоспособного возраста составляет 5,7 миллиардов.
Из них — 3,3 миллиарда человек (или 58%) заняты, в то время как 172 млн. являются безработными. Обе эти группы, вместе взятые, составляют глобальную рабочую силу, равняющуюся в 2019 году 3,5 млрд. человек (61% от числа населения трудоспособного возраста). Примерно 3 из 5 из их числа — мужчины. Оставшиеся 2,2 млрд. человек (38,6%) трудоспособного возраста были вне рабочей силы, в их число входили в том числе занятые в сфере воспитания и неоплачиваемого домашнего труда, а также пенсионеры.
Трудовой доход является ключевым (а зачастую и единственным) источником существования для 3,3 млрд. наемных работников и их семей, определяющим их жизнь и жизненные перспективы.
При этом, большинство работающих по всему миру людей, испытывают материальные лишения, отсутствие экономической безопасности и уверенности в будущем, трудятся и живут, остро ощущая нехватку равных возможностей для труда и своей реализации. Многие заняты на т.н. непривлекательных, уязвимых рабочих местах, которые как правило, носят неформальный характер и низко оплачиваются, их труд лишен социальной защиты, прав и гарантий.
Так, по данным МОТ, сегодня в мире более 2 млрд. работников (61% рабочей силы в мире) заняты в неформальной сфере.

🗒️🗣️ INTERVIEW | Adelmo Becerra: ‘It Is Essential to Defend Labor Rights Against Regressive Reform’
In the latest VA interview, Venezuelan trade union representative Adelmo Becerra explains that the government’s May 1 measures continue recent labor policies by increasing non-wage bonuses while leaving the minimum wage unchanged. He notes that the growing use of bonuses instead of salaries weakens severance pay, social security contributions, and collective bargaining protections.
“It is essential at this moment to have a united force with a specific agenda: to fight for the restoration of wages, for the reopening of collective bargaining negotiations, for the release of unjustly imprisoned workers and trade unionists, and to defend labor rights against regressive reform efforts,” Becerra states.
He also warns that proposed labor reforms could reduce historic labor rights amid the ongoing economic crisis and US sanctions.

Lufthansa’s Labor Budget Airline
Lufthansa pilots are striking again on April 13 and 14, with the walkout covering Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo, and Lufthansa CityLine. Eurowings pilots are also set to strike on April 13. Flights to several Middle Eastern destinations are exempt.
The dispute is over pensions, not some grand civilizational question. The union says management has dragged out talks and offered nothing serious, even after pilots held off over Easter. Lufthansa says the demands are unrealistic and amount to doubling an already generous pension plan.
That leaves the usual European corporate script. Management pleads poverty. Labor calls the bluff. Passengers get drafted into the negotiation as unpaid extras. Lufthansa says the strike is a new escalation. The union says escalation is what happens when talks become theater.
This is already the airline’s latest labor hit in a string of disruptions this year, as Lufthansa tries to cut costs and protect margins while unions keep pushing back on pensions, staffing terms, and restructuring. Europe’s flagship carriers still know how to fund strategy decks and corporate redesigns. Keeping their own workforce onside is where the math suddenly gets tight.
