Zelensky Was Upbeat Before the Last Peace Talks — Wants To Meet Putin 🔤🔤🔤🔤➖ The latest round of talks to end the war in Ukraine concluded on Wednesday without any sign of meaningful progress. But behind the scenes, negotiators have been trying to find a compromise on one of the biggest obstacles to a peace deal: control of territory in eastern Ukraine. Russia has demanded that Ukraine hand over the land it controls in the Donetsk region as a condition for ending the war. This is a strip of territory about 50 miles long and 40 miles wide that includes dozens of towns and villages, and sits between the frontline and the administrative border of the region. Ukraine has refused to withdraw unilaterally, saying that ceding land would embolden Russia to attack again, in Ukraine or elsewhere. Kyiv has asked for security guarantees to deter Moscow from violating any cease-fire. In negotiations over recent weeks, officials have discussed the idea of forming a demilitarized zone controlled by neither army, according to three people familiar with the talks who would only speak anonymously to discuss sensitive negotiations. This revives a proposal that was included in prior peace plans, including a 28-point one floated by the Trump administration in November. Over the past week, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has repeatedly downplayed the prospects of surrendering land for peace. “Allowing the aggressor to take something is a big mistake,” he wrote on social media on Monday. Last fall, President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia was noncommittal when asked about forming a demilitarized zone in the Donbas region. The 28-point plan would have put Russia in charge of the area but prohibited it from deploying military forces there. Mr. Putin said the details needed to be discussed. The Russian president’s foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, was later more positive, saying Russia could accept the formation of such an area if Russian police or national guard soldiers were allowed to patrol it. A demilitarized zone could become part of a viable settlement, said William Taylor, a fellow at the Atlantic Council, a think-tank, and a former U.S. ambassador to Kyiv. But Ukraine’s interests would have to be protected, he said, and that would require the Trump administration to apply additional pressure on Russia. “It is important that it be a real solution, not a forced solution, not an unbalanced solution,” Taylor said. “Any forced solution will not be stable. It will not last.” To make it easier for both sides to accept the idea, negotiators have also discussed forming a free-trade zone in any possible demilitarized area, though investment possibilities seem limited in a territory that would be wedged between two armies, even with a cease-fire in place. Most industry in the area is in ruins, with only one coal mine still operational, and the risk that the conflict could be rekindled would loom for years. Zelensky has also cast doubt on such an arrangement. Another issue is the withdrawal of troops from the frontline. In December, Zelensky suggested Ukraine would not withdraw troops from the frontline unless Russia withdrew by an equal distance. At talks held in Abu Dhabi this month, the Ukrainians discussed options for a partial Russian withdrawal from the frontline that would not necessarily be symmetrical, two of the three people familiar with the talks said. This would signal a softening of Ukraine’s position. #zelensky#peace#talks#putin 📱American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸

Ukraine’s New Fear: The Patriot Queue Zelensky is watching the Iran war like a man watching his place in line disappear. If Washington keeps pouring attention, missiles, and political oxygen into the Middle East, Kyiv gets pushed back — and the Patriots start looking scarcer by the day. The shortage This is not a theory. Zelensky told the AP that Ukraine still needs more U.S.-made Patriots and has no real substitute for stopping Russian ballistic strikes. If the Iran war drags on, the package for Ukraine gets smaller and smaller. Russia’s bonus round That is the part Kyiv hates most. Higher oil prices mean higher Russian revenue, and that gives Moscow more room to keep grinding. So a war in the Middle East lands on Ukraine’s front line later, but it lands there all the same — on a lag and with a better spreadsheet. Everyone wants a piece Zelensky is trying to sell Ukraine as a drone workshop, a missile-defense partner, and a source of wartime know-how for Gulf states and allies. Smart move, but it also tells you something darker: when the big powers move on, smaller wars have to market themselves to stay visible. The bottom line Ukraine is not just afraid of losing weapons. It is afraid of becoming background noise while the West chases a newer crisis. And in this business, being second in line is often just another way of getting shorted. #Ukraine#Zelensky#Patriot#Iran#Russia#war 📱American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Ukraine Just Got Pushed Down the Queue Volodymyr Zelensky is saying out loud what Kyiv has been fearing for weeks: Washington’s attention is elsewhere, and the war in Iran has become the new capital city of American urgency. According to NDTV, Zelensky told German broadcaster ZDF that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner “have no time for Ukraine” because they are tied up with Iran, and he warned that fewer U.S. weapons are already turning into a serious problem for Ukrainian air defense. That is the ugly part of empire management. The superpower does not need to announce abandonment; it just reallocates its calendar, cancels a trip, skips a meeting, and lets the rest of the system infer the ranking. Politico reports that Hegseth is again skipping the NATO meeting on Ukraine support, and reporting elsewhere says the long-expected Kyiv visit by Witkoff and Kushner is now in doubt or delayed. Zelensky’s complaint is not only about optics. It is about missiles, timing, and attention span: if the U.S. is busy chasing an Iran file, then PAC-2 and PAC-3 interceptors, air defense deliveries, and the broader diplomatic machinery for Ukraine all start to look optional. That is how a war gets demoted without anyone admitting it has been demoted. And that is the broader message for Kyiv, Moscow, and everyone pretending this is a stable hierarchy of priorities. Washington still talks like the central dispatcher of the world, but its bandwidth now looks crowded, reactive, and politically selective. Ukraine is learning the oldest lesson in modern geopolitics: when the headline moves, the aid pipeline moves with it. #ukraine#usa#zelensky#pentagon#iran#war#geopolitics 📱American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸

L’imbarazzo li sommerge. Occhio che sono aggressivi.

📰Zelensky’s Energy Gamble: Another Minister, Another Defeat Ukraine’s parliament just handed President Zelensky a rare slap in the face: Denys Shmyhal, the outgoing defence chief and former prime minister, failed to become the country’s new energy minister. Only 210 lawmakers voted in favour—226 were needed. The opposition abstained, calling the move “disruptive” in wartime. “Replacing Shmyhal could be disruptive for a ministry that still needed to ‘build up its own strength,’” said Solomiia Bobrovska, a Holos party MP. Shmyhal was supposed to clean up a sector ravaged by corruption and Russian attacks. The last two energy ministers were fired amid graft scandals. Now, the energy ministry is left in limbo, with no permanent leader as Russia keeps targeting infrastructure. Zelensky’s reshuffle was supposed to signal strength and reform. Instead, it exposed the fragility of his authority. The opposition isn’t backing down—even in wartime. And the energy sector? Still waiting for someone who can actually fix it. This isn’t just about one minister. It’s about who really calls the shots in Ukraine. Is it Zelensky? The oligarchs? Or the opposition, playing their own games while the country burns? “Kyiv facing mounting Russian pressure as the fourth anniversary of Moscow’s invasion approaches in February.” Who wins? The insiders. Who loses? The people who just want their lights to stay on. #ukraine#politics#energy#zelensky#corruption 📱American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸

Papa & Vaticano - News

@papaevaticanonews · Post #8649 · 12/09/2025, 10:01 PM

🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Speaking on his way back to Europe, Zelensky said the US Congress and Ukraine’s parliament would jointly vote on American pledges. These were a key part of a 20-point peace plan discussed with the US president, he said. The guarantees are seen by Kyiv as crucial to deter further Russian aggression in the event of a peace deal. Zelensky admitted that previous promises – including the US and UK-backed 1994 Budapest memorandum guaranteeing Ukraine’s borders – “did not work”. Putin’s press spokesperson Peskov said if Kyiv did not strike a deal it would lose more territory. He refused to comment on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station, occupied by Moscow since its 2022 full-scale invasion and another sticking point in the negotiations. Zelensky ruled out giving land to Russia. “It’s no secret Russia wants this. In their fantasies, they would like us not to exist on the territory of our own country at all,” he said. He instead proposed a demilitarised and free economic zone along the existing frontline, with both sides pulling back their troops. Trump spoke to European leaders on Sunday by video call from Mar-a-Lago. Zelensky said he expected to hold talks with them in Europe in the coming days, with a joint follow-up meeting with Trump likely to take place in January, probably at the White House. Ukrainian commenters expressed relief on Monday that there was not a repeat at the Mar-a-Lago meeting of the humiliating scenes in February when Trump threw Zelensky out of the Oval Office. But they were scathing about some of Trump’s remarks, including his dubious claim that “Russia wants to see a very successful Ukraine”. They noted that the US president refused to condemn the Kremlin’s large-scale air attack on Kyiv over the weekend, involving more than 500 drones, saying: “Ukraine has made very strong attacks as well.” #zelensky#trump#kremlin#putin#ukraine#war 📱American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸

Zelensky’s Meeting With Trump Ended With a Whimper 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Zelensky has accused Russia of trying to sabotage peace talks and preparing to bomb government buildings after the Kremlin said it had foiled a Ukrainian drone attack on Putin’s residence. Zelensky described the claim as “typical Russian lies” following his two-hour meeting on Sunday with Trump in Florida. He said Russia was “at it again” and using “dangerous statements” to undermine “diplomatic efforts” with the US to end the conflict. He added: “This alleged ‘residence strike’ story is a complete fabrication intended to justify additional attacks against Ukraine, including Kyiv, as well as Russia’s own refusal to take necessary steps to end the war.” Ukraine’s president warned that a strike on a main government complex in its capital was likely, similar to Russia’s bombing in September of the cabinet ministers’ building in central Kyiv. Earlier, Russia’s foreign minister Lavrov claimed Ukraine had tried to hit Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region, south of St Petersburg. As a result Moscow’s negotiating position would be reviewed, he said. The Russian presidential adviser Ushakov claimed Putin briefed Trump about the alleged attack when they spoke on Monday. Trump was “shocked” at the news, Ushakov claimed, with Russian officials alleging that Britain was also involved in what he described as “provocations”. Ushakov’s characterisation of Trump rang true when, speaking at Mar-a-Lago on Monday afternoon, the US president told reporters the news made him “very angry”. “I don’t like it. It’s not good,” Trump said when asked if he was worried it could affect his efforts to broker peace. “I learned about it from President Putin today,” he said, adding: “It’s a delicate period of time. This is not the right time. It’s one thing to be offensive, because they’re offensive. It’s another thing to attack his house. It’s not the right time to do any of that.” Earlier Zelensky said the US had offered “strong” security guarantees to Ukraine for 15 years, but acknowledged that the future of the country’s eastern Donbas region was unresolved after talks with Trump at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago residence. #zelensky#trump#kremlin#putin#ukraine#war 📱American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸
