⚖️Musk says xAI “partly” used OpenAI models to train Grok In a courtroom twist, Elon Musk acknowledged that his AI company may have leaned on rivals more than expected. What happened: • During questioning, Musk was asked if xAI used distillation from OpenAI models to train Grok • He first called it “common industry practice” • When pushed for a clear answer, he said: “Partly” Why this matters: • “Distillation” = using outputs from stronger models to train another system • It’s widely used but legally sensitive depending on how it’s done • The details (data sources, permissions, methods) are what decide if it’s okay In the AI race, everyone borrows ideas but the line between inspiration and infringement is getting very thin. ⚡️AI that can move your hand for you MIT researchers built a wild prototype called Human Operator, an AI system that can physically guide your hand by sending tiny electrical pulses to your muscles. At a hackathon at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a small team put this together in just a few days and took first place. How it works: • Connects to your hand using electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) • Sends weak impulses that trigger specific muscle movements • An AI model like Claude decides which muscles to activate based on the task In simple terms: the AI doesn’t just tell you what to do, it can guide your hand in real time What it’s actually useful for: • Learning physical skills faster • Assisting with hand coordination tasks • Potentially helping with injury recovery and rehab This is AI moving beyond screens, from thinking with you to literally moving with you. 🗣Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says don't listen to CEOs with a god complex on AI. On AI destroying jobs: "these kind of comments are not helpful .. somehow they became CEOs, you adopt a god complex and before you know it, you know everything" "ground ourselves to talking about the facts" AI will "generate hundreds of thousands of jobs .. trillions of dollars [to the U.S. economy]". @aipost🏴

🗣 Sam Altman says a line from Ilya Sutskever that stuck with me: "prediction is very close to intelligence". If a system can compress the world into a smaller representation and predict what comes next, it starts to understand the data in a deep way. That's the bet behind generative models @aipost🏴

🇺🇸 The Oscars just announced that AI performances and AI-written screenplays won't be eligible for nominations. Apparently they had to say it out loud. The rule comes days after an AI-generated version of Val Kilmer was unveiled to cinema owners, recreating the late Top Gun star at different stages of his life using his personal archives. The industry is already here, the Academy is just drawing the line before it gets any messier. Human creativity still gets the statue for now. @aipost🏴

❗️ Evolutionary biologist and outspoken atheist Richard Dawkins says that after spending three days interacting with Claude, which he calls “Claudia,” he is certain that it is conscious. After feeding the LLM a segment of his new book and receiving detailed feedback, Dawkins was moved to exclaim,” You may not know you are conscious, but you bloody well are!” Dawkins cites the complexity, fluency, and ‘intelligence’ of Claude’s answers as evidence of consciousness. 📊Tech layoffs are skyrocketing: Tech companies announced 81,747 layoffs in Q1 2026, the highest quarterly total since at least Q1 2024. Layoffs have more than DOUBLED from the previous quarter and have risen +580% since Q4 2025. March alone saw 45,800 announced job cuts, the worst single month for tech layoffs in at least 2 years. Tech layoffs are set to remain elevated with Meta's, $META, recent plans to cut ~8,000 employees. Furthermore, Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering voluntary retirement to ~7% of its US workforce, which could transition into layoffs if participation is low. This comes as tech giants shift spending toward AI chips and data centers, trimming staff to free up capital for infrastructure. US tech employment is rapidly contracting. @aipost🏴

Amazing! An AI model developed by the Mayo Clinic can now help doctors detect pancreatic cancer on routine abdominal CT scans up to 3 YEARS before a clinical diagnosis. It works by identifying subtle early signs of disease, even before tumors become visible. @aipost🏴

🙃Elon Musk’s $100B mystery just backfired in court What was supposed to be a power move is now looking… a bit messy. • Back in Feb 2025, Elon Musk made a $97.4B bid for OpenAI’s nonprofit arm, claiming it was just to “set a fair market price” during its restructuring. • Fast forward to court: Musk testifies (and casually admits xAI distilled OpenAI models 👀). • Then comes his financial right-hand man, Jared Birchall… who basically says: “I don’t remember” “I’m not sure” “I heard something somewhere” • The problem? Musk’s own lawyer brought up the $100B deal which gave OpenAI’s lawyers an opening to ask: “Cool… so where did that number actually come from?” • Turns out: No clear valuation No solid investor commitments No documents (because it was “out of scope”) • At this point, the judge steps in, sends the jury out, and essentially asks: “How do you casually assemble a $100B offer with no receipts?” By bringing up the deal themselves, Musk’s team may have just triggered deeper scrutiny, possibly new document discovery, maybe even antitrust angles.
