Epitome of Scandinavian technology and skills In over 40 sites across an area that extends over northern Finland, Sweden and Norway, advanced iron and steel objects were produced and smithed by hunter-gatherer groups more than 2000 years ago. These completely new findings about widespread advanced iron and steel production are presented in a new doctoral thesis which may change the current European and global historiography. The findings are made by researchers at Luleå University of Technology. New paper published in Nature: "Whole-genome ancestry of an Old Kingdom Egyptian" Researchers sequenced the whole genome of an adult male excavated at Nuwayrat, radiocarbon dated to 2855–2570 calBCE, shortly after the unification of Egypt. The body was buried in a ceramic pot within a rock-cut tomb, likely aiding in the preservation of his DNA. Genetic analysis indicates that the majority of his ancestry derives from a combination of North African Neolithic and Mesopotamian/Levantine sources. He is predicted to have had brown eyes, brown hair, and dark to black skin pigmentation. Uniparental haplogroups: mtDNA haplogroup: I9 Y-haplogroup: E1b1b1b2b~

Man of the Khvalynsk Culture Khvalynsk were part of the Eneolithic Steppe horizon along with Sredny Stog and the Berezhnovka–Progress group. They are not an ancestor of Yamnaya or Corded Ware but more like an “Uncle” culture. They formed from an admixture of a steppe Eneolithic group that moved northward and admixed with local hunter gathers in the Volga region. Sredny Stog would be like a “brother culture” which came out of a similar population but instead of admixture with Volga hunter gathers they instead had admixed with Ukraine N populations.
