🌍🇪🇺About African migrants and their journey towards the Europe Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail recently published an interesting material about the African migrants and their long road towards "better life" in Northern Africa and Europe. This topic became a hot once again since the end of the "COVID-19 era", when after all the lockdowns the influx of migrants began to increase yet again. More and more often there are news of another boat with hundreds of illegal migrants from Africa that did not reach destination, North African countries police crackdowns on places of residence of illegal migrants, new agreements between European and North Africa countries regarding the search for migrants, etc. 🔻Despite popular belief that most migrants are illiterate and really poor, in fact, the largest stratum of the population that makes up the ranks of migrants is people with at least have some educationand money. These people have some understanding of what life can be. They compare themselves to their fellow more illiterate citizens and believe that they can achieve much more. That's why they strive for more and see in Europe this opportunity to get what they think they deserve. ▪️Another argument, why people with at least some income become migrants, is that they need the services of smugglers. Yes, they can try to journey threw the Sahara desert and the Mediterranean Sea on their own. But these types of people most of the time die in desert or on sea, get caught by the police or border guards, or captured by people traffickers, bandits or terrorists. So it becomes almost necessary to get several smugglers (since one will get them threw desert, another through border, another through sea, etc.), which requires a lot of money. And migrants sill have a risk of being scammed and left to their destiny in the middle of the desert. ▪️The next stop is Northern Africa. Why's so? Because the journey from there to Europe is the most expensive one. So illegal migrant must first get more money for that if he/she comes unprepared. And sometimes that's where their journey ends. They just find some source of income and try to continue living there. But often they try to continue their journey. And there comes politics. European countries sign deals with Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt to help catch illegal migrants and send them home (the most recent one was signed between Italy and Tunisia). And Europe is ready to pay huge sums of money to get rid of this pain in the neck (despite what they tell to the Western audience). 🔻All in all, despite all the hardships, African migrants are willing to take the risk. Since the Pandemic has ended we can see the increase in numbers of migrants trying to cross borders. Until another huge crisis (like 2008 or 2019-2021, when the influx of migrants hugely dropped) strikes Europe, the numbers, most likely, will not stop growing. With the access to internet and the beginning of a new race for Africa more and more African youths will want a better life. Since the instability in most of the Africa shows no signs of ending, Europe should prepare for numbers that could surpass the 2010s ones. #Africa#Europe @africaintel

Nations throughout Europe have witnessed a surge in incidents characterized by anti-Semitism, alongside a notable increase in the prevalence of anti-Arab hate speech and related hate crimes. Although two terrorist attacks, one in France and another in Belgium, haven't been definitively tied to the ongoing crisis, they have contributed to heightened anxiety. It doesn't seem the situation is going to get better (especially if no one does anything). https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/11/02/gaza-europe-migration-right/

This is the shocked face of a young man as he encounters a television for the very first time (#USA, 1948) Little did he & others realise, everything from his smart dress code to his perception of right & wrong would be negatively changed by such poisonous screens.
