Windows XP activation has been cracked. Microsoft's algorithm for verifying Windows XP product keys has been cracked, meaning that it will be possible to generate valid Windows XP activation codes without an internet connection, even if Microsoft has already shut down the XP activation servers. Microsoft has long stopped supporting Windows XP and does not recommend that users reinstall Windows XP in 2023. However, if you have a need, such as running special software that only works on XP, then the closure of the activation server will no longer be a major obstacle. Related: Arstechnica

YouTube has started blocking ad blockers. YouTube Premium subscribership grew to a record 80 million users in 2022, and Google responded by investing more into its subscription offerings. Recently, one Redditor encountered a popup informing them that "Ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube" and offered a button to "Allow YouTube ads" in their ad blocking software. This experiment could be a sign of things to come, as Google has long been at odds with ad blockers and wants to ensure that the only way to not see ads is by shelling out $12 a month for a Premium membership. #news#youtube Via: Reddit | AndroidPolice
