šProject name: Ethno-geographic features of the incidence of tuberculosis in the region of the South Aral Sea. PI: Atadjan K. Khamraev HI: Center for the development of professional qualification of medical workers OBJECTIVE: Uzbekistan is one of 30 countries in the world with a high incidence of tuberculosis, accounting for 87% of tuberculosis cases. The epidemiological situation in the South Aral Sea region (Republic of Karakalpakstan) has been and remains the most sensitive. The objective of this study is to evaluate the role of ethnicity and residency on the development of symptomatic tuberculosis in the community living in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as to evaluate association between factors contributing on the development of symptomatic tuberculosis and ethnicity/residency among the community of the RK. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: - A retrospective analysis of the risk factors for the development of active tuberculosis in case and control groups has been conducted and proved that people of Karakalpak nationality living in the Republic of Karakalpakstan have a higher risk of contracting active tuberculosis compared with people of Uzbek and Kazakh ethnicities; - A retrospective analysis of factors contributing to the development of symptomatic tuberculosis in the Republic of Karakalpakstan has been conducted and revealed that migration patterns of ancestors, living conditions, participant behaviors, individual characteristics, environmental factors, socioeconomic status, access to healthcare, type and quality of nutrition and other factors significantly influenced the risk of developing symptomatic tuberculosis; these associations may vary across different ethnic groups and residential areas, with certain populations being disproportionately affected; - The experience and skills gained during the implementation of subproject are provided to young researchers, independent researchers working at the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers. š±https://t.me/Munis_Project š±www.youtube.com/@MUNISProject šhttps://wbgrants.uz
