The Carna Bay Hotel owner hired an Indian to manage the IPAS duties a couple of weeks back. I guess the primary job requirement is not to care about local concerns. Guru Singh also runs a Pizza Max in the village. Locals still believe there's going to be an attempt to sneak the asylum seekers in at around 4AM. 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

Locals out in force in the Connemara village of Carna after they learned of a plan to bus so-called asylum seekers into the Carna Bay Hotel tonight. There's also a road block set up in Cill Chiaráin. EDIT: a Fianna Fáil councillor says no asylum seekers are moving into the hotel tonight. 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

Trump couldn't believe this statistic. "More than 50% of the Medals Of Honour were won by the Irish. I'm going to have to check that. That sounds like an awfully good statistic. We're going to have to check what's going on over there." 🔗youtube.com 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

A new GP in Bray has closed his books to new patients despite being nowhere near full after being flooded with appointment requests from Ukrainians. Dr John Kealy said attending to patients from abroad is far more complex, and the time required to adequately deal with one non-national is equivalent to seeing 10 or 15 Irish people. Only a quarter of his current patient list is Irish. All Ukrainians seeking temporary protection automatically receive a free medical card on arrival in Ireland. #OurHealthcareSystemWouldCollapseWithoutThem 🔗 archive.vn 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

The Irish honey bee is now at grave risk of extinction due to the mass importation of foreign bees. "If this trend continues, the genetics will be lost and part of our natural heritage, our native Irish honey bee, will be lost forever". What's always left unexplained is the reason why so many foreign bees are being imported: Foreign humans (Poles and other Eastern Europeans in particular) prefer them as they produce more honey for lower overhead and aggressively squeeze Irish bees out of the pollen market. Sounds very familiar. #OneStruggle✊🏻🐝 🔗rte.ie

The Irish Refugee Council is hosting an event to assist converting Ukrainians who received temporary protection status into permanent refugees. After Ukraine was invaded in February 2022, the EU's Temporary Protection Directive was activated allowing Ukrainians and third-country nationals living in Ukraine the right to bypass the standard asylum process and receive immediate benefits upon arrival in Ireland. These benefits included access to the labour market, €220 in Jobseeker's Allowance per week on top of free housing, food, medical card, access to education and a monthly Child Benefit payment of €140 per child. Ukrainians had the option to apply for asylum through the standard process and only receive €38.80 per week but the vast majority did not. The Temporary Directive was sold to the Irish public as lasting a maximum of three years. Ukrainians would then have to return home (and not just for Christmas). Now after receiving the full perks package, they're seeking to stay. 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

Human trafficker Lucky Enogheghase claims he didn't know the Nigerian women he trafficked into Ireland were to be forced into prostitution but his surname is remarkably similar to one of the two Nigerian women found guilty of human trafficking and running a prostitution ring in 2021. The trial of Edith Enoghaghase and Alicia Edosa was believed to be the first conviction of its type in Ireland and heard victims underwent a voodoo ceremony in Nigeria before their journey through Libya and Italy where they used fake Irish passports to fly into Ireland. Lucky Enogheghase's trial this week also heard the victims were trafficked via North Africa and Italy but only says the "third parties" who forced the women into prostitution on arrival in Ireland have already been dealt with by the courts. I can't find a report of any other trafficking and prostitution case. Makes we wonder whether Lucky and Edith are siblings. 🔗sundayworld.com 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland
