Традиционное песни горных племен Мьен, записанные в полевых условиях Лораном Жанно c лейбла Kink Gong. Мьен – это крупнейшая ветвь народа Яо, название которого восходит к легенде о псе, спасшем дочь китайского императора и получившем её в жены. Само название Мьен означает просто «люди». Мьен насчитывают 4 миллиона человек и расселены в южных китайских провинциях Гуйчжоу, Гуанси, Юньнань, а также во Вьетнам, Лаос и Таиланд, куда они мигрировали за последние столетия. Являясь частью группы мяо-яо китайско-тибетской этнолингвистической семьи, они имеют множество подгрупп, обычно определяемых по цветам их традиционной одежды.
