The Ayutthaya Kingdom existed from 1351 to 1767 in present-day Thailand. It was founded by King Uthong. Foreign accounts called it “Siam.” Its people called themselves Tai and their kingdom Krung Tai, meaning “Tai country.” The capital stood where three rivers met.
