Instead of throwing away a good battery, you can use open-source tools to reset the lock and save money. You set up an Arduino device and software on your computer (either a simple Windows program or Python-based) to communicate with the battery and unlock it. OpenSSH 9.0 switches scp(1) from using the legacy scp/rcp protocol to using the SFTP protocol by default and introduces a -O option to use the legacy SCP protocol for file transfers with servers that do not implement SFTP.
