Rather than confining AI to optional electives, the Order mandates weaving AI concepts—understanding, using, and critically evaluating AI systems—throughout math, science, language arts, and social studies from elementary through high school. A bipartisan December 2024 report warned that without resources, K-12 educators cannot deliver on AI literacy—and flagged the need to uphold labor and anti-discrimination laws as AI enters classrooms. This Executive Order answers that call by directing federal agencies to develop curricula, teacher training, and equitable access safeguards, ensuring every student gains foundational AI skills.
