During World War II, the United States worked on a secret weapon called the Bat Bomb. It was part of Project X-Ray. The plan used thousands of Mexican free-tailed bats carrying small incendiary devices. The bats would be released over cities and hide in buildings, then start fires. Tests were done at a military base in New Mexico. One test accidentally burned part of the base. The project was later canceled when focus shifted to the atomic bomb program. 🦇💣🔥🇺🇸 [Read more 1] [Read more 2] @googlefactss #WWII#BatBomb#NotABathBomb#History#SecretWeapons#Innovation

Crickets can be used to estimate temperature using Dolbear’s Law. The snowy tree cricket is the best species for this method because its chirp rate closely matches temperature changes. 🦗 Count chirps in 14 seconds and add 40 to estimate the temperature in °F. Crickets chirp faster in warm weather and slower in cold because they are cold-blooded. 🌡️ To estimate temperature in °C, count chirps in 8 seconds and add 5. This method is fairly accurate between 5 and 30°C. 🌡️ To convert °F to °C, subtract 32 and multiply by 0.56. 🥵🥶🦗🌡️ [Read more] @googlefactss #Insects#ScienceFacts#Nature#DidYouKnow#celsius#Fahrenheit If you have ideas or feedback contact us: @Googlefactss_Feedback_bot

Coal miners once used canaries to detect deadly gases like carbon monoxide. The birds reacted quickly by becoming sick or collapsing before humans noticed danger, warning miners to escape. Some mines used “canary resuscitators,” small cages that supplied oxygen to revive the birds after gas exposure. These devices protected both miners and canaries. 🐤⛏️🫁 [Read more] @googlefactss #HistoryFacts#Mining#ScienceHistory#DidYouKnow#Safety If you have ideas or feedback contact us: @Googlefactss_Feedback_bot

Both Gummy candies and cars are coated with carnauba wax. In candies, it gives a shiny surface and stops them from sticking together. In cars, it protects paint, repels water, and gives a glossy finish. Carnauba wax comes from palm leaves in Brazil. It is very hard, has a high melting point, and is safe to eat. This natural wax works well in both food and automotive uses because it is durable, glossy, and heat-resistant. Sadly it does not keep cars from sticking together😉. 🍬🚗✨🌴 [Read more] @googlefactss #CarnaubaWax#CandyFacts#CarCare#ScienceFun#EdibleWax If you have ideas or feedback contact us: @Googlefactss_Feedback_bot
