Today marks the anniversary of a pivotal moment in one of history's most tragic and heroic chapters: the breaking of the Siege of Leningrad in 1943. ⭐Duration: 872 days. From September 8, 1941, to January 27, 1944. ⭐Population: Around 3 million civilians and soldiers were trapped at the start. ⭐The Hunger Ration: At its lowest point in November-December 1941, the daily bread ration was just 125 grams. ⭐The Road of Life (Дорога жизни), the only lifeline across the frozen Lake Ladoga, evacuated over 1.4 million civilians and brought in vital supplies. ⭐The Toll: The primary cause of death was starvation and extreme cold over 1 million. ⭐The Unbroken City: Despite everything, Leningrad resisted. Factories kept working, artists created, and a symphony became a symbol of defiance. Today we remember the immense suffering and honour the incredible endurance of Leningrad's defenders and residents. Photos: Аргументы и факты #memorible_date #WW2 🟠RCR | Support | Boost

On August 6, 1915, "Атака мертвецов" (TheAttack of Dead Men) routed the German army. 🔻The German army launched a large-scale offensive aimed at capturing Osovets Fortress. The Germans employed gas attacks, which was a novelty in warfare at the time. 🔻Over 1,600 men within the fortress were incapacitated. Following the gas attack, German artillery opened heavy fire on the fortress. 🔻Advancing to meet the Germans were the remnants of the infantry – soldiers "with faces wrapped in rags, convulsing from terrible coughs, literally spitting out pieces of their lungs onto their blood-soaked coats." I cannot describe the fury and rage with which our soldiers advanced on the German poisoners. Exhausted, poisoned, they rushed forward. There were no stragglers; no one needed to be urged on. There were no individual heroes; companies advanced as one man, driven by a single purpose, a single thought: to die, but to avenge the vile poisoners. #Russian_history #memorible_date 😎RCR | Support | Boost

That's why we celebrate the might Of Borodino today... 🔻September 8 marks the Day of Russia's Military Glory – the Day of the Battle of Borodino between the Russian army under the command of Mikhail Kutuzov and the French army in 1812. 🔻As Kutuzov noted: "This day will remain an eternal monument to the courage and excellent bravery of Russian soldiers, where all infantry, cavalry and artillery fought desperately. Everyone's desire was to die on the spot and not give in to the enemy." 🔻After Borodino, the Russian army, whose morale had strengthened, quickly regained its strength and was ready to expel the enemy from Russia. 🔻The "great" "army" of Napoleon, on the contrary, lost heart, lost its former maneuverability and ability to win. Moscow became a genuine trap for her, and her retreat from it soon turned into a genuine escape, with the final tragedy on the Berezina. 🇷🇺+🇬🇧 texts of Borodino by Mikhail Lermontov Video: NikitaGluhov #poetry #memorible_date #Russian_culture #AI 😎RCR | Support | Boost
