FaceTime Without the Internet | Data Slayer FaceTiming without Apple... I tested whether consumer apps like FaceTime, Signal, WhatsApp, and Zoom work on an off-grid #HaLow#mesh#network with zero internet. The key discovery: FaceTime and Signal connect peer-to-peer if they can find each other on any local network — Apple's servers aren't in the loop. The climax was a two-car highway test where Emilia and I held a FaceTime call at 70 mph, bridged only by Haven nodes and sub-gigahertz antennas. The conclusion: the "loophole" isn't a hack — it's the original peer-to-peer design we forgot about once we handed the internet to five companies. #MeshNetwork#OffGrid#P2P

I Built a Mesh Network Across the World | Data Slayer That escalated quickly... In my last video, I introduced #Reticulum—an open-source protocol that could allow anyone to build networks without relying on traditional internet infrastructure. But there was one big question left unanswered: how far can it actually go? In this video, I start with a simple setup inside my house and begin pushing the limits—testing communication across rooms, neighborhoods, and beyond using WiFi HaLow and #mesh networking. The goal is simple: see if it’s possible to send real messages across distance without depending on ISPs, centralized servers, or the internet as we know it. #Network#MeshNetwork

The Internet, Reinvented. In this video, I build a #Reticulum#RNode and prove that completely different radios — #LoRa and Wi-Fi — can communicate through a hardware-agnostic networking stack. Reticulum routes traffic above the radio layer, automatically bridging dissimilar frequencies, interfaces, and modulation types. I then run it over Wi-Fi HaLow Haven nodes to create a long-range, encrypted IP #mesh with no traditional infrastructure. Finally, I push it further by running #ATAK across the network, demonstrating a fully open-source, decentralized communication stack in action. There's a newcomer to the Mesh world In this video we introduce #Meshcore, a powerful open-source, text-based encrypted mesh-radio system built on #LoRa hardware—perfect for off-grid communications on your homestead or preparedness setup. #Meshtastic fans will find Meshcore instantly familiar — a low-cost, open-source way to stay connected when the internet and cell service aren’t available. But Meshcore takes a few different paths, and we’ll break it down in plain English. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaFltojJrAc Edit: not fully foss ⚠️ MeshCore is not entirely open source, which seems odd for an off-grid decentralized communications framework. Some parts are open, but the official clients (the mobile apps, web app, and T-Deck firmware) are not https://hackaday.com/2025/12/06/lessons-learned-after-trying-meshcore-for-off-grid-text-messaging/ #mesh#p2p#im

AURA => https://github.com/Oxule/Aura AURA is a decentralized messenger leveraging Nearby Connections technology to create robust mesh networks. It thrives where the internet fails, bypassing censorship and eliminating central points of failure. ✨ Key Features 🌐 Offline Mesh: Powered by Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct. Messages hop from device to device seamlessly. 🎭 The Aura: A unique digital identity concept. Your specific color, icon, and behavior patterns form your "Aura" within the network. 🔐 Total Privacy: End-to-End (E2E) encryption for all data. Complete anonymity: messages are injected into a shared distributed ledger without sender or recipient metadata. 🛡 Flood Protection: Smart architecture designed to mitigate "Blackhole" and flood-based attacks. 🎨 Modern UI/UX: A smooth, intuitive interface that bridges the gap between high security and everyday usability. #Mesh#p2p#im @dcntr

#TBOT Show 7: The Significance of Dorsey’s Bitchat, Worlds First eSIM Hack, Mexico’s Digital ID, New Show Source Insights Took a week off and now I’m back. 😎 (with a new addition to the show?!) (also - big sorry for the show being 40 minutes) WATCH THE SHOW ON SUBSTACK https://odysee.com/@takebackourtech:f/tbot-show-7:6 Here’s the stories for the week: Jack #Dorsey’s #Bitchat - The Real Story: The tech mogul Jack Dorsey released a censorship proof messaging app in late June - named Bitchat. It runs a #bluetooth#mesh network, end to end #e2e#encryption, and rolling IDs and is picking up traction. I share my thoughts on the app, and concerns I have - but that’s not even the real story. I think Jack has a bigger message than just the app. World’s First #eSIM Hack: A security lab out of Poland just demonstrated a hack on one of the largest SIM providers for IoT devices. We’ll get techy in our understanding and ask the question, could this impact our phones? #DigitalID, Coming Soon To #Mexico: The Mexican government has signed a new #Biometric#ID law, known as the CURP. How is this enforced and what does it mean for Mexican residents? Find out today. Decentralized #Video Conferencing: Recently I’ve been relying more on video conferences instead of calling people, especially while traveling. Good thing I’ve got the #Jitsi app, I’ll show you my setup! #videocall New Show, “Source Insights”: You follow #TBOT to stay informed on tech freedom. Now go deeper with a new weekly show “Source Insights”, where Hakeem shares his tools, lifestyle and productivity tips, entrepreneurial advice, wisdom from guides, and personal experiences. Meshenger is a P2P Android phone app that started out as a demo for community mesh networks. Meshenger started out as an idea to promote off the grid mesh networks and has now reached its initial goal. In this talk I will talk about the idea behind it, the story how it came to be and of course how it works. https://media.ccc.de/v/camp2023-57107-meshenger #P2P#Meshenger#Mesh#MeshNetwork#ChaosComputerClubBerlin #CCCde
