The Day of Remembrance for Russian soldiers who died in World War I (1914-1918), one of the largest conflicts of the 20th century, is observed on 1 August in Russia. ➡️The memory of fallen Russian soldiers is preserved not only in Russia, but also beyond its borders. There are about a thousand Russian military graves from that period in Belgium. The largest of these is the Robertmont Cemetery in the city of Liège. Here lie the members of the Russian Expeditionary Force who fought on the fields of France and Belgium on the side of the Entente. In Brussels, at the Ixelles Cemetery, there are also graves of Russian soldiers — they are part of the general memorial to the First World War, a symbol of remembrance and gratitude to all those who fell. This day is a reminder of bravery, loyalty to duty and sacrifice made for the sake of common victory. ➡️Russian historians talk about the ties between Russia and Belgium during the First World War (French subtitles): Marina Sorokina.
