In the center is a slab of labradorite with a carved inscription: "Your name is unknown, your feat is immortal". 🌟The guard of honor ceremony takes place hourly at the memorial. It is a landmark event that attracts many people. 🙏Anyone can visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The place is open to anyone who wants to honor the memory of the heroes.

Lecture at the Russian House 🌊 Ostend is one of the earliest seaside resorts in Europe, where in the 19th century not only resort culture developed, but also a space of informal diplomacy emerged. On April 24, the Russian House in Brussels hosted a lecture of the Historical Club by Professor Vladimir Ronin, dedicated to the topic “Russian Ostend.” 📌 The lecture focused on the presence of Russian aristocracy, diplomats, and intellectuals and their role in the broader European dialogue. ✨ The resort served as a venue for meetings between members of imperial families and diplomats, where key political matters were often discussed in an informal setting. Special attention was given to the visits of Nikolai Gogol, who came to Ostend three times and spent around six months there in total. 📌 It was here that he wrote about 50 letters, reflecting on life, faith, and creativity — making Ostend an important part of his intellectual and spiritual journey.

Лекция в Русском доме 🌊 Остенде — один из первых морских курортов Европы, где в XIX веке формировалась не только курортная культура, но и пространство неформальной дипломатии. 24 апреля в Русском доме в Брюсселе состоялась лекция Исторического клуба профессора Владимира Ронина, посвящённая теме «Русский Остенде». 📌 В центре внимания — присутствие российской аристократии, дипломатов и интеллектуальной элиты и их роль в общеевропейском диалоге. ✨ Курорт служил площадкой для встреч представителей императорских домов и дипломатов, где в неформальной обстановке обсуждались важные вопросы европейской политики. Отдельное внимание было уделено пребыванию Николая Гоголя, который приезжал в Остенде трижды и провёл здесь около полугода. 📌 Именно здесь он написал около 50 писем, в которых отражены его размышления о жизни, вере и творчестве — что делает Остенде важной точкой его духовного и творческого пути.
