On April 24, the Russian House in Brussels hosted a lecture of the Historical Club by Professor Vladimir Ronin, dedicated to the topic “Russian Ostend.” 📌 The lecture focused on the presence of Russian aristocracy, diplomats, and intellectuals and their role in the broader European dialogue. ✨ The resort served as a venue for meetings between members of imperial families and diplomats, where key political matters were often discussed in an informal setting. Special attention was given to the visits of Nikolai Gogol, who came to Ostend three times and spent around six months there in total. 📌 It was here that he wrote about 50 letters, reflecting on life, faith, and creativity — making Ostend an important part of his intellectual and spiritual journey.
