😔💔🕯 An Israeli soldier was killed in a Hezbollah explosive drone attack in southern Lebanon this morning, the military announces. He is Sergeant Idan Fooks, aged 19, from Petah Tikva, a soldier in the 77th Battalion of the 7th Brigade The soldier is the third to be killed in southern Lebanon despite the ongoing ceasefire. An officer and three troops were seriously wounded, one soldier was moderately hurt, and another soldier was lightly hurt in the attack. While the wounded troops were being evacuated, Hezbollah launched two more explosive-laden drones at the forces. One of the drones was intercepted, while the second struck near the troops, without causing any additional injuries. Hezbollah took responsibility for the attack.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry officially announces the appointment of Michael Lotem as Israel’s ambassador to Somaliland - the country that, so far, only Israel has officially recognized. Michael Lotem is a veteran Israeli diplomat with extensive experience across Africa and Central Asia, most recently serving as Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya from 2021 to 2025. Throughout his career, which includes ambassadorial roles in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, he has specialized in economic diplomacy, focusing on exporting Israeli expertise in agritech, water management, and innovation.

The municipality of Marjaayoun, a Christian village in southern Lebanon, informs the village residents that it has received a warning from the IDF stating that if foreign residents who are not residents of the village settle in the village (aka Shi'a muslims), a full evacuation of the village will be carried out - whose Christian residents currently are allowed to remain in place and not evacuate.

The IDF distributed leaflets in southern Lebanon listing the villages it operates in and warning residents not to return as the area remains an active combat zone.
