Another student, an 18-year-old girl preparing for an entrance exam for higher studies, has tragically taken her own life. Reading her suicide note, where she calls herself the worst daughter and apologizes to her parents for not being able to crack the exam, is depressing. These deaths are preventable. I won't comment on this specific case, but generally, the top cause of stress is 'expectations from parents who love you so much.' This stress can be eased if parents engage in daily conversations with their children, reassuring them that their lives are not solely determined by exam results. It's okay to fail. No mental health counselor can impact a kid's mind as much as parents. They raised the kid, they have their trust, they know their strengths and weaknesses, their stress-coping levels, etc. Lastly, parents should realize that having an unemployed, unsuccessful child at home is still better than having no child at all. Many students fail these exams. Your child might be one of them, and that's okay. Perhaps they are destined for greater things, but for that, they need to stay aIive – and that's where your support comes in. Again, I do not promote students who are not willing to study / work, but burdening them with unnecessary stress is what I am against of. Please listen to your children and take care of them. Life's not a race. Let them grow on their pace and with your guidance and patience they can do wonders! @thelostdiary ━━━━━━━━━
