Sometimes you need to focus on the small battles first. Like gathering enough courage and getting out of bed even if you don't want to. Like letting loose the tangled mess of your hair. Like going to the grocery store to grab some fruits and veggies. Like cooking for yourself. Like putting your clothes in the laundry and getting in the shower one day at a time. Sometimes you need to ignore other people's progress and focus on your own steps -like meeting up with a friend over coffee. Like applying to a new job that you, or booking that holiday. Like smiling at your reflection in the mirror and getting dressed even if you're not going to step out. Like stepping out anyway to get some fresh air, to browse around the aisles of shops and cafes that used to make you happy. Like moulding back into your old life, but as a new you. It's not about jumping head-first into your healing. It's about the tiny actions each day that bring you closer to feeling warm again. It's not about waking up one morning and feeling miraculously healed. It's about moving forward-step by step- as gently as you can.
