Iran’s Fars News Agency reported that Tehran sent “written messages” to Washington via Pakistan detailing “red lines… including nuclear issues and the Strait of Hormuz.” Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, traveled from Islamabad to Russia, arriving early today. His weekend itinerary included back-to-back visits to Islamabad and Muscat, Oman, before returning to Islamabad. In Pakistan, he met Army Chief Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar before continuing his trip. 🇾🇪#Yemen – 🇸🇦#SaudiArabia: Footage shows protests that began on April 1st in eastern Yemen, where demonstrators expressing support for the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) were fired upon by Yemen’s Homeland Shield Forces. Several people were killed at the scene, with dozens more injured. The STC previously condemned such incidents and called on the international community to respond, accusing authorities of ongoing repression in southern regions. The group, backed by the United Arab Emirates, had previously maintained control over Aden and large parts of southern Yemen before being pushed back earlier this year by forces aligned with the Saudi-backed government(Yemen's Homeland Shield Forces). 🇸🇦#SaudiArabia - 🇾🇪#Yemen: Saudi Arabia bombed a shipment of weapons in Yemen’s port city of Mukalla earlier this morning. The shipment reportedly arrived from the United Arab Emirates and, according to Saudi Arabia, was intended for Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces. The strikes targeted military equipment and vehicles belonging to the STC. The strike follows an offensive earlier this month by the STC against Yemeni government troops backed by the coalition. The STC was initially part of the Saudi-led coalition that intervened in Yemen in 2015 against the Houthis, but later pursued autonomy in southern Yemen. (via The Guardian)

🇷🇺#Russia: Russia is advancing a new legislation that would allow it to deploy troops abroad under the pretext of protecting Russian citizens facing arrest, detention, or criminal prosecution. The bill, which has passed its first reading in the State Duma and must still go through three additional approvals, is intended to expand existing laws that permit the use of military force overseas to defend Russia's "national interests". A similar justification was used by the Kremlin during its invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Under the proposed changes, the Russian government could authorize military deployments in response to legal actions taken against Russian citizens by foreign courts or international bodies (ICC), which Moscow does not recognise. Analysts warn that the broad and vague language of the bill could pave the way for future military interventions in regions with significant Russian populations, including NATO member states such as Estonia. 🇷🇺#Russia: Russian General Vladimir Alexeyev was shot multiple times in his apartment on the outskirts of Moscow. He is considered a senior figure in Russia’s military and is viewed as the number two in the GRU military intelligence directorate. Alexeyev was previously involved in talks with Ukraine during the siege of Mariupol in 2022 and was sent to negotiate with Yevgeny Prigozhin during the Wagner Group mutiny in June 2023. His condition is unknown, and the gunmen have not yet been apprehended. (via BBC)

🇷🇺#Russia: The governor of Russia’s Belgorod region has released footage showcasing anti-drone laser installations allegedly purchased by "local enterprises and factories". The systems are reportedly being deployed to counter and shoot down Ukrainian drones targeting industrial facilities in the Belgorod region.

🇷🇺#Russia: There’s been a serious explosion in Moscow. Three people were killed, including two traffic police officers. The detonation occurred as the officers approached a "suspicious individual" near a police vehicle. A presumed bomb was then detonated. This happened close to the site of a recent car bombing that killed a senior Russian general on Monday. (via BBC)

🇷🇺#Russia: Russian media reports that the car of Major General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, exploded earlier this morning in Moscow, killing him. Investigators say an IED was planted under his Kia Sorento and detonated shortly after the vehicle began moving. Sarvarov previously took part in combat operations, including the Chechen wars in the 1990s and early 2000s, and also led operations in Syria between 2015-2016.
