On World Habitat Day, Venezuelan grassroots movements protested rising illegal evictions in Caracas. Coordinated by the Pobladores Movement, activists called for government action against increasing pressure from real estate interests. Diana Castellanos of the Tenants’ Movement warned of efforts to gentrify working-class neighborhoods, especially in Barquisimeto.
