📰 NEWS | Venezuela Joins International Mediation and Cybersecurity Efforts to Defend Sovereignty
Venezuela has joined the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed), a new conflict resolution body promoted by China and grounded in UN principles. The move was formalized by the National Assembly. The country also became a founding member of a multilateral cybersecurity initiative alongside 11 other states. Signatories advocate for a sovereign, transparent, and equitable international information security framework.
Additionally, Venezuela was further re-elected to the vice presidency of the UN General Assembly for its 80th session (2025–2026), with Samuel Moncada continuing in the role.

📝 В журнале СПбГУ «Правоведение» вышла статья Заместителя Председателя Совета Безопасности РФ Дмитрия Медведева: «Утраченные иллюзии, или как Международный уголовный суд стал юридическим ничтожеством».
В ней автор подробно разбирает, почему Международный уголовный суд (МУС) утратил доверие и перестал выполнять свою основную задачу – привлечение к ответственности за тяжкие международные преступления.
Основные тезисы:
▪️ МУС давно стал инструментом геополитического давления, действующим в интересах коллективного Запада.
▪️ Суд демонстративно игнорирует преступления, совершённые гражданами западных стран и стран НАТО, сосредоточиваясь на удобных «мишенях» – преимущественно в развивающемся мире.
▪️ Особый цинизм – в попытках выписывать ордера на арест действующих глав суверенных государств, включая Президента России. Эти решения заведомо не имеют правового результата и служат исключительно пропагандистским целям.
▪️ В этих условиях на повестке дня – формирование альтернативных международных механизмов. Один из возможных вариантов – создание в рамках БРИКС правовой структуры, основанной на Уставе ООН, принципах равенства государств, невмешательства и иммунитета глав государств от иностранной юрисдикции.

📝Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, has published a new article in the journal Pravovedenie: “Lost Illusions, or How the International Criminal Court has become a legal nonentity.”
The article offers a detailed legal and political critique of the International Criminal Court (ICC), whose credibility and neutrality have come into serious question.
Key points:
▪️ The ICC no longer represents the international community as a whole, operating instead in the interests of the so-called collective West.
▪️ It selectively pursues cases against political figures in the Global South while turning a blind eye to war crimes and aggression committed by Western nations and NATO members.
▪️ The issuance of arrest warrants for sitting heads of sovereign states – including the President of Russia – reflects the court’s descent into propaganda, with no practical or legal consequences.
▪️ In light of this, Medvedev argues for the development of alternative legal mechanisms at the regional level – for example, within BRICS – grounded in the UN Charter, sovereign equality, and non-interference in internal affairs.

🌍G20 Summit in South Africa
🗓 The G20 Summit took place in Johannesburg on November 22–23, 2025, where member countries agreed on a set of measures aimed at building a more resilient and equitable global order.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa emphasized that the summit’s outcomes were a natural continuation of the work done by the previous three G20 presidencies. The adopted Leaders’ Declaration, he said, is “not just words” but a concrete commitment to improving people’s lives around the world. ✨
🔚 During the final session, participants agreed to take joint action in three key areas:
1️⃣ Access to critical minerals
2️⃣ Ensuring decent working conditions 👷♂️
3️⃣ Advancing artificial intelligence 🤖

🔹 Deputy President Mashatile announced that isiXhosa, one of South Africa’s official languages, will be studied at SPbU starting this September.
🔹 He emphasized the importance of expanding African studies programs in Russian universities and welcomed stronger academic ties.
📚 Following the event, we presented SPbU leadership with a copy of M. Maqetuka’s Jim Is Tired of Jo'burg, translated into Russian and published in Yekaterinburg last year.

On the occasion of the Russian #DiplomatsDay (February 10) we would like to tell you about the Contribution of Soviet Diplomacy to the Establishment of the #UN
Key points:
- At the #Moscow Conference of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, USA, Great Britain and China in October 1943, the #Soviet delegation put forward a proposal to establish a universal international organization.
- The first draft of the #UNCharter was developed at a conference convened at the suggestion of the #USSR in Dumbarton Oaks (#USA) from September 21 to October 7, 1944. At this forum, representatives of the USSR, the USA, #GreatBritain and #China agreed on the goals, structure and functions of the world organization. The Soviet delegation consistently and resolutely advocated that the activities of this organization be based on democratic principles.
- At the #Crimea (Yalta) Conference of the leaders of the great powers, which took place from 4 to 11 February 1945, participants agreed upon the issues of the initial members of the organization and the voting procedure in the Security Council, as well as on issues related to the maintenance of international peace and security, the development of economic relations, cooperation in the social, technical and other areas of interstate relations.
- On April 25 – June 26, 1945, the founding conference of the United Nations was held in #SanFrancisco. The Soviet delegation sought to ensure that the #democratic principles of the structure and activities of the UN were enshrined in the Charter.
- Based on Soviet amendments, important new provisions were included in the chapter on the purposes and principles of the UN, stating that peaceful settlement of international disputes should be carried out "in accordance with the principles of justice and international law"; that friendly relations between nations should develop "on the basis of respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples"; that international cooperation in resolving international problems of an economic, social, cultural and humanitarian nature should be carried out "and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion...".
- On June 26, 1945, the UN Charter was signed by A.A. Gromyko, then the Soviet Ambassador to the USA, thanks to whose personal participation and persistence the final documents related to the creation of the UN recorded positions largely corresponding to the interests of the Soviet Union.
