📰 NEWS | Venezuelan and International Organizations, Intellectuals Demand Release of Activist Martha Lía Grajales Human rights lawyer and activist Martha Lía Grajales was detained Friday in Caracas after a protest. Witnesses report she was taken in an unmarked vehicle at a police checkpoint. Her location remains unknown. On Monday, around 100 people gathered in La Vega to demand her release. An online petition calling for her liberation and respect for due process has gathered over 800 signatures, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, writers Miguel Mazzeo and Michael Lowy, and feminist Alba Carosio. Authorities have not commented on her arrest. On Monday afternoon, the Attorney General’s Office announced that Grajales was charged with incitement of hatred, conspiracy with a foreign government and criminal association.
