📰 NEWS | Trinidad Gov’t Gets US Support for Venezuela Joint Natural Gas Project Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar confirmed that Washington will support joint offshore gas ventures in Venezuelan waters. The Dragon field, containing 4 Tcf of reserves and operated by Shell, is fully located in Venezuela. The Cocuina-Manakin field, with 1 Tcf and operated by BP, is divided between Trinidad and Venezuela. The US State Department confirmed support for Dragon but emphasized steps to ensure Caracas does not receive a “significant benefit.” PDVSA was excluded from ownership, with Venezuela limited to collecting taxes and royalties. Caracas has yet to comment on the announcements.
