Outperforming the benchmark is a never ending challenge. The S&P500 naturally keeps the best stocks over time, and removes underperformers. Here's a few things I've done to outperform the S&P500 between March 2020-February 2026 on both an absolute and risk adjusted basis. 1️⃣Macro fundamentals: this is critical for directional bias. Trade WITH the macro flow, or get bulldozed by it! 2️⃣Follow price trends, and cut losers quick. Add to winners, not to losers. 3️⃣Diversify across assets and strategies: I trend trade what is obvious, and ignore what isn't.
