✍️Article of the Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgiy Borisenko in "Daily News Egypt" newspaper:
▪️The age of unilateral world with undisputed dominance of the historic West is coming to an end. However, Western countries still seek to preserve their diktat by any means. This is why Russia had to take up arms on February 24, 2022 to defend its security and national interests.
▪️It was possible to avoid the military option three years ago, but the West deliberately pushed the Ukrainians in the bloody undertaking using them as cannon fodder. Since then, supplies of NATO weapons have been fueling the conflict, which Russia initially proposed to resolve peacefully.
▪️The current establishment of multipolarity suits the interests of the majority of people on the planet. The BRICS group is a prototype of such a world order without segregation and humiliation.
▪️We look forward to enhancement of cooperation with our Egyptian friends in various fields, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

▪️There is growing mutual interest between Cairo and Moscow during the interview.
▪️We witness significant progress in cultural, economic, and investment cooperation and the exchange of expertise between both countries in various fields over the past decade.
▪️The delegation's business agenda included a series of commercial, cultural, and humanitarian events to enhance trade and economic ties between Russia and Egypt, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa region.
▪️New projects are underway to establish Moscow cultural centres in Egypt and bolster tourism exchange.
▪️The BRICS agenda is a focus area for Moscow's business ecosystem. We participate in BRICS missions, organize B2B negotiations, and foster cooperation through events.

🇷🇺🇪🇬 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Badr Abdelatty(Moscow, September 16, 2024)

💬Interview of the Ambassador of Russia to Egypt Georgiy Borisenko to the "Daily News Egypt"
▪️We consider Egypt to be a significant partner for Russia, serving as our gateway to Africa.
▪️In the previous year, the total trade volume between our two nations amounted to a substantial 7.1 billion US Dollars. Fortunately, our trade has rebounded after global shocks caused by COVID-19 pandemics, and we have witnessed significant growth in past years, especially in terms of export of wheat to Egypt, which amounted about 8 billion tones or 80% of the country’s total import.
▪️ Up to 1,5 million Russian tourists visited Egypt last year, which puts them on a second place among all foreigners, who came to the country. From January till April this year more than 300 thousand Russians crossed border with Egypt.
▪️The decision of Ukrainian leaders to attack our lands appears irrational, as their losses far surpass ours. Their casualties could be up to 10 times higher than ours.

🇷🇺🇪🇬 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement and answers to media questions at a joint news conference following talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty (Moscow, September 16, 2024)

💬Sergey Lavrov: We expressed satisfaction with the level of traditionally friendly Russian-Egyptian relations which are advancing in accordance with the Treaty on Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Cooperation. <...>
The positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation is encouraging. In 2023, bilateral trade exceeded the $7 billion mark, which is significantly more than the year before. We are committed to doing everything possible to maintain and reinforce this uptrend. <...>
We reviewed the progress of implementation of major joint investment projects, primarily the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and a Russian industrial zone near the Suez Canal. We had an extensive discussion about Russia’s grain supplies to the Egyptian market, and noted their stability.
We both agreed that Egypt’s accession to BRICS in January had given a strong boost to our partnership. <...>
We had an in-depth discussion of current international and regional issues. We share common commitment to continuing close coordination at the UN and other multilateral platforms.
We focused on the crisis situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone in light of the unprecedented escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip. We stand united with our Egyptian friends in calling for immediate ceasefire and providing urgent humanitarian assistance to the people of the enclave. <...>
We discussed in detail the situation in and around Libya. Like our Egyptian friends, we are committed to the concept of a comprehensive crisis settlement based on the principles of Libya’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. <...>
We welcomed our Egyptian partners’ commitment to expanding political dialogue with Syria. Cairo’s constructive position was instrumental in deciding to restore Damascus’ full membership in the League of Arab States. <...>
There are many other issues which directly affect Egypt’s interests in the regions that lie next to the Arab Republic of Egypt, such as Sudan, Somalia, and the Red Sea. We believe all these issues should be addressed through direct dialogue between the parties involved with the support of neighbouring countries. <...>
🤝 I expressed my gratitude to our Egyptian friends for their balanced and constructive stance on the situation in and around Ukraine. We exchanged views on how this issue is being discussed at various venues. I outlined our perspective on the emerging issues, including within the international community, and our vision of ways to overcome them based on the legitimate interests of the Russian Federation.

💬Vladimir Putin: We are very glad to see you in Moscow.
Just recently, on March 31, I had the pleasure of speaking with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. We discussed both bilateral relations and issues related to developments in the region. It is important for us to maintain regular contacts.
I know that you have a busy programme with your Russian counterpart, Minister Lavrov, and other senior Russian officials. I am sure it will be beneficial for our bilateral relations.
We have many good plans, and much is already being implemented. Work continues on the construction of the nuclear power plant and the industrial zone project. More than ten major Russian companies have expressed readiness to operate there.
We can also discuss the creation of a grain and energy hub in Egypt. There are many interesting ideas in this regard.
I would also like to draw your attention to the next #RussiaAfrica Summit scheduled for October this year. We hope Egypt will be represented by a strong, high-level delegation. And if the President of Egypt finds the time, we would, of course, be very pleased to welcome him to Moscow. Please convey to him my very best wishes.
Naturally, the situation in the region is a matter of shared concern for us. We all hope that the conflict will be brought to an end as soon as possible. President Trump also spoke about this yesterday.
❗️Let me reiterate: for our part, we are ready to do everything possible to help return the situation to normal.
In this regard, it is, of course, very important for us to hear your assessments, the assessments of Egypt as a key Middle Eastern country, on this issue.

Following up on my telephone conversation with the President of Egypt, I instructed the Government to work with our Egyptian colleagues on the supply of food products to Egypt, above all our grain. Egypt is our partner in this respect.
I would like to note that we had strong agricultural results last year and a good harvest. We have no problems with supplies.
