QHeaderView.setResizeMode
QHeaderView.setSectionResizeMode
from Qt import QtCompath
header = self.horizontalHeader()
QtCompat.QHeaderView.setSectionResizeMode(header, QtWidgets.QHeaderView.Fixed)
# PySide2
from PySide2.QtUiTools import QUiLoader
loader = QUiLoader()
widget = loader.load(ui_file)
# PyQt5
from PyQt5 import uic
widget = uic.loadUi(ui_file)
# Qt.py
from Qt import QtCompat
widget = QtCompat.loadUi(ui_file)

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the #Bishoftu International Airport, poised to become Africa’s largest aviation hub, while the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) condemned the project as involving “forced displacement,” alleging that thousands of residents are being uprooted and demanding ownership stakes for affected farmers.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Abiy described the airport as a “mega station” central to Ethiopia’s long-term aviation and industrial strategy, with the capacity to handle up to 110 million passengers.

#Ethiopia’s #Bishoftu mega airport secures fresh financing momentum
Ethiopia’s landmark aviation project near Bishoftu is gaining fresh international traction following a recent series of high level engagements in #Rome, where #Italian officials signalled a readiness to support key components of the financing for what is being positioned as #Africa’s most ambitious airport scheme.
This development comes as the project — already under construction — moves from planning into execution mode, and as Addis Abeba’s existing aviation capacity nears its limits.
Announced during formal discussions in mid March 2026 between Ethiopia’s Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and Italy’s Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, Italy’s pledge does not yet amount to a fully executed funding commitment.
Rather, it frames Italian support as being part of a multi layered financing structure under negotiation, with.........

#Commentary: #Oromia’s New Regulation: Legalizing construction on illegally possessed land, enabling geography-based discrimination
Oromia’s Regulation No. 259/2026 (March 2026) legalizes illegally built properties—yet excludes #Shaggar, #Adama, and #Bishoftu. Hassen Mama Muse argues, "This geographic exclusion creates a two-tiered system, violating constitutional equality."
The law covers construction projects from 2013 to 2026 that meet the criteria but excludes some residents from facing demolition. This contradicts Article 25 of #Ethiopia’s Constitution and treaties like the #ICCPR. The regulation also fails Lon Fuller’s "internal morality of law" and exceeds the Council’s authority under Proclamation No. 242/2021.
According to the author, urgent reforms are needed: include all cities, compensate evictees, and review constitutionality." A fair framework must protect all equally," he emphasizes, "or entrench inequality as reform."

#In_Depth_Analysis: The #Hormuz Entanglement: Why #Ethiopia’s fuel crisis is a perfect storm of #war, #graft, and #reform
While the immediate catalyst appears to be the high-stakes military escalation between the U.S., Israel, and Iran, a deeper look reveals that Ethiopia’s fuel misery is a complex entanglement. It is a “perfect storm” where geopolitical vulnerability, a domestic system rotting from within, and a painful macroeconomic experiment have collided to leave 120 million people running on empty.
Until the govt can clean its own house, root out the “senior decision-makers” profiting from the black market, and navigate the treacherous waters of Middle Eastern diplomacy, the accounts emerging from #Gonder to #Jimma to #Ambo, and from #Hawassa to #Bishoftu and #Mekelle, point to an Ethiopia that will remain running on empty.
It will be a country “stalled at the intersection of a distant war it cannot control and a local crisis of governance it has yet to master”...

Irreecha – Annual Thanksgiving Celebration in Ethiopia 🇪🇹
The Oromo Irreecha festival is Ethiopia’s premier thanksgiving celebration, marking the transition from the dark, rainy season to the bright and fertile season of Birraa (spring). Spiritually, it is an expression of gratitude to Waaqa (the Creator) for blessings and peace.
Today, the main celebrations are taking place at Hora Finfinne in Addis Ababa. Vast crowds, led by traditional Abbaa Gadaas, are performing the central ritual: dipping green grass (Irreessa) and flowers into the water as an offering of thanks and a prayer for the future.
This massive cultural event is a powerful manifestation of Oromo unity and identity. The festivities are vividly reflected in traditional attire, songs, and dances, affirming a deep connection with nature and heritage.
The climax is expected tomorrow, Sunday, at its traditional and most sacred site—Hora Harsadi (Lake Harsadi) in Bishoftu. It is there that Irreecha truly becomes a day of reunion, reconciliation, and hope.
