THE UNHCR REGIONAL OFFICE FOR ASIA AND THE PACIFIC AND THE OMBUDSMAN HAVE AGREED TO COOPERATE July 15, 2022 — The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elvira Asimova, met with the Regional Adviser of the UNHCR Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, Mathias Royce. During the negotiations, the parties discussed issues of improving national legislation, including procedures for reducing statelessness, birth registration and guarantees against statelessness, Kazakhstan's accession to the UN Convention on Citizenship. The Ombudsman spoke about changes in national legislation and practice in the field of migration, measures taken in connection with the appeals of citizens and refugees. Following the meeting, the participants agreed on the implementation of a joint training project on the protection of the social rights of migrants and refugees, the conclusion of a memorandum on further cooperation and strengthening the capacity of the regional representative offices of the Commissioner. #Ombudsman#HumanRights#UNHCR

Как заявили одновременно две ключевые структуры – Управление ООН по координации гуманитарных вопросов (OCHA) и Агентство по делам беженцев (UNHCR) – ситуация требует радикальных мер. UNHCR объявило о сокращении: ➡️почти 30% расходов на персонал, ➡️3,5 тыс. постоянных позиций и сотен временных договоров, ➡️закрытии и уменьшении масштабов деятельности ряда офисов. Под удар попали базовые программы: финансовая помощь, здравоохранение, образование, водоснабжение и санитария. Несмотря на это, число вынужденных переселенцев в мире достигло 122 млн человек – почти вдвое больше, чем десять лет назад. OCHA, в свою очередь, запустило «апелляцию выживания» на $29 млрд, перераспределяя приоритеты в пользу стран с наивысшими гуманитарными рисками. По словам главы OCHA Тома Флетчера, сегодня речь идет о триаже человеческого выживания: «Мы просим лишь 1% от того, что вы потратили на войны. Это не только призыв о деньгах — это призыв к глобальной ответственности». News: #UN reports over 12,000 #Ethiopian refugees in #Sudan's Blue Nile State as conflict tensions mount The UN refugee agency, #UNHCR, says more than 12,000 Ethiopian refugees in Sudan are living in #Blue_Nile state, a region that has seen escalating insecurity and cross-border tensions, including accusations that Ethiopia has supported attacks by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (#RSF) from the #Benishangul-Gumuz region. In its latest overview as of 31 March 2026, UNHCR reported that a total of 68,750 Ethiopian refugees and asylum seekers are currently in Sudan, representing about 8% of the country’s overall refugee population, which stands at more than 862,000. Of these, 12,675 Ethiopian refugees—about 18%—are hosted in Blue Nile state, primarily in Wad Al Mahi Camp. The majority, 44,386 (65%), reside in Gedaref state, while smaller numbers are found in Red Sea state (3,135) & Khartoum (322). The report highlights that 73% of Ethiopian refugees are living....
