US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has held a phone call with Venezuelan opposition leaders Edmundo González and María Corina Machado. The Trump White House reaffirmed González as "Venezuela’s rightful president," continuing the Biden-era approach toward Venezuela. The administration also reiterated its demand for the release of political prisoners and maintained sanctions against Nicolás Maduro's government.
