Continuing our series on Russian–Belgian relations 🇷🇺🇧🇪 1950s In the 1950s, cultural and humanitarian ties between our countries, which had been interrupted by social upheavals and wars in the first half of the 20th century, were renewed. Cooperation in music became one of the strongest foundations of Russian-Belgian relations. Queen Elisabeth of Belgium occupies a special place in this history as an outstanding patron of the arts. A talented violinist, she was friends with the outstanding musician David Oistrakh and even learned Russian so that she could write letters to him. In 1958, Her Majesty sat on the jury of the inaugural International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Her participation was a significant milestone in the history of cultural cooperation between Russia and Belgium, strengthening the traditions of mutual respect and creative dialogue. #RussiaBelgium#CulturalDiplomacy#History#Music
