Does Fiona need to declare the non-monetary payments/ benefits from advertising beauty products on her YouTube channel? 🤔#TaxSeason2024 As a YouTuber, Fiona receives sponsorship products and services regularly. These products and services sometimes exceed $100 and may not be given on an ad-hoc basis for one-off consumption or testing. If the value of a product/ service exceeds $100, the full value of the sponsorships should be declared and be subjected to tax. The $100 threshold does not apply to non-monetary benefits if it is a recurring supply provided over a period of time.

Does Bryan need to declare the income earned from an overseas online platform, even if his customers are not in Singapore?🤔#TaxSeason2024 Bryan makes online sales to overseas customers through an overseas platform. The key activities for earning the income – such as identifying saleable products and fulfilling/ coordinating orders – are performed by Bryan in Singapore. In this case, the sales income through the online platform would be considered as Singapore-sourced and taxable in Singapore. 💡If Bryan’s total annual net trade income exceeded $6,000 or total annual taxable income exceeded $22,000 last year, he needs to file a tax return by 18 April. The income earned from his online sales should be reported under "Trade, Business, Profession or Vocation" in his individual Income Tax Return. 👉 Find out more about the tax obligations of online sellers and service providers at go.gov.sg/tax-guide-online-sellers-service-providers

Does Brandon need to declare the income earned from his live auctions? 🤔#TaxSeason2024 Brandon sets up a live auction online to sell some antique items from his personal collection which were acquired primarily for his personal enjoyment. During this time, he discovers that he enjoys the activity and starts looking for other antiques to sell regularly for a profit. Although he started off with the purpose of disposing his personal collection, the subsequent buying and selling activities were for trade purposes. The income from the subsequent buying and selling is taxable as trade income.
