Host Brianna Keilar said, “We have Minneapolis City Council Member Jamal Osman joining us now. He’s a Somali refugee whose family moved to the U.S. 26 years ago. Councilman, I saw you there shaking your head. What’s your reaction to what the president said?” Osman said, “My reaction is that it’s really shocking. Someone who is the leader of the country, United States, speaking to another human being as garbage. No human being is garbage. And, that kind of language is dangerous. It’s not just the politics. It’s dangerous. It puts people’s lives in danger.” He continued, “The Somali community have shown a growth in this state. They have contributed a lot to to the state of Minnesota and the city of Minneapolis. The U.S. Coast Guard launched an internal investigation after a swastika was found on a bathroom wall at a primary recruit training center in New Jersey. The swastika— widely recognized as a symbol of the German Nazi Party and linked to the killing of millions of Jews — was found in the bathroom of the training center in Cape May, and the branch referred the matter to the Coast Guard Investigative Service for a probe, a Coast Guard spokesperson told The Hill on Monday. U.S. Capitol Police were called about an American flag altered to include a swastika and displayed inside the office of Rep. Dave Taylor (R-Ohio), his spokesperson said. POLITICO obtained an image taken during a virtual meeting that shows the flag pinned to what appears to be a cubicle wall behind Angelo Elia, one of Taylor’s staffers. Alongside the flag — with altered red and white lines in the shape of a swastika — are pinned images, including a pocket Constitution and a congressional calendar.
