Недавно делал быстрый прототип асинхронного приложения в котором требовалось вызывать много синхронного кода. Да, я знаю, что это не лучший дизайн, но нужно было быстрое решение на один процесс и без очередей. Поэтому я выполнял код в потоках.
Выглядело это примерно так:

В общем работает нормально. Для всех вызовов под капотом используется общий тредпул, всё работает предсказуемо.
Но потребовалось изменить количество запускаемых в пуле потоков (по умолчанию создается 40 воркеров).
Так как дело происходит с FastAPI, делается это через lifespan используя настройки anyio:

# если вдруг нужно вернуть обратно

Зачем менять количество воркеров?
- уменьшить, если оперативки мало (один тред занимает ~8мб)
- увеличить чтобы выдержать нагрузку

The first image was captured by astro raja of his favorite team's stadium, the latter two were taken by former NASA astronaut Terry Virts as part of his ISS Play Ball collection. While orbiting some 250 miles above Earth, Virts a lifelong baseball fan, photographed all 28 cities with a Major League Baseball (MLB) stadium, during his stint in space with ISS Expeditions 42 and 43.
Incredible views of Earth from the ISS are possible thanks to the space station’s Cupola, an observatory module. The Cupola’s 31-inch window is the largest ever used in space and served as the window through which Virts took many of his photographs.
The Cupola isn’t just used to take enthralling images from space.
