Malaysia as the lead country for the ASEAN Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Network is very honoured to welcome all the delegates from LaoPDR, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam to Malaysia for Training Through Attachment at Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), Ministry Of Health Malaysia. As we know, ASEAN is prone to natural disasters and other emergencies, making emergency response readiness a crucial aspect of the region's security. The EOC officers play a vital role in managing emergency response operations. However, training, and equipping EOC officers with the necessary skills and knowledge are essential to enhancing their effectiveness in managing emergencies. Therefore, the Disease Control Division of the Ministry of Health Malaysia collaborates with the ASEAN Secretariat and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) to conduct Strengthening the ASEAN EOC Network: Training through the Attachment for ASEAN Member States (AMS) EOC Officers at the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH). This training is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of EOC officers in managing emergency response operations. The officers will gain practical experience and exposure to different emergency situations, access to best practises and lessons learned from other countries, and the opportunity to build relationships and networks with other EOC officers. The training curriculum includes various activities, such as workshops, field visits, attachments, and tabletop exercises, to provide EOC officers with practical experience in managing different emergency situations. The Attachment Programme also presents opportunities for strengthening collaboration and coordination among ASEAN countries in managing emergencies. I hope that this 4 days attachment will make the most of this opportunity to learn and grow.
