Today, I’m heading to the 10th International Symposium on Sturgeons in Yichang, China — a premier global academic forum dedicated to sturgeon research, covering their biology, ecology, aquaculture, and genetics. The symposium is organized by Wuhan University, in collaboration with China Three Gorges University and the National Engineering Research Center of Eco-Environment in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, part of China Three Gorges Corporation. As a member of the IUCN SSC Sturgeon Specialist Group representing Central Asia, I will present the latest findings on the Amu Darya false shovelnose sturgeons (Pseudoscaphirhynchus kaufmanni and P. hermanni). My talk will provide up-to-date insights into their distribution, trends in major biometric indices, genetic diversity, key threats, and our ongoing captive breeding efforts. Additionally, the IUCN Sturgeon Specialist Group will address recent concerns in sturgeon taxonomy and upcoming conservation assessments. #ISS10 #Sturgeon #Pseudoscaphirhynchus
