URAL: The "Heavy" Soviet Legend 🔻Everyone believes the legendary Soviet M-72 motorcycle was a direct copy of the German BMW R71. But the truth is more interesting! The R71 was too expensive for the army, so the Germans replaced it with the simpler R12. As a result, Soviet engineers copied the R12, the most popular motorcycle in the Wehrmacht, as their prototype. 🔻By spring 1941, they had successfully reverse-engineered it. By October 1941, the Irbit Motorcycle Plant was born, producing over 10,000 M-72s for the Red Army by the end of WWII. 🔻The iconic Ural name first appeared in the early 60s with the M63 model — the beloved "heavy" motorcycle many remember from their childhood. 🔧 Civilian Ural - Technical Snapshot: ☆Nickname: Тяжёлый (The Heavy) ☆Price: 1,250 - 2,500 Soviet Rubles (a significant sum at the time!) ☆Engine: 650cc, air-cooled, flat-twin (boxer) ☆Power: ~32-36 hp ☆Drivetrain: 4-speed gearbox with reverse gear ☆Feature: Sidecar drive (2WD on some models) ☆Weight: ~300+ kg (with sidecar) 🔻Saved from bankruptcy in 2000, the modern Ural is now updated with imported components but keeps its iconic retro style and go-anywhere spirit. Fall of the USSR December 25, 1991 - At around 7:32 PM, the flag of the Soviet Union is lowered from the Kremlin for the last time. In its place, the flag featuring the traditional Russian tricolors is raised at 8:00 PM. Simultaneously, Mikhail Gorbachev resigned from his position as Soviet President, and handed his power to Boris Yeltsin. The Soviet Union was the world's first Communist nation, established on December 30, 1922. At the height of its existence, it was the largest country in the world, and shared borders with 12 other countries. On December 26, 1991, the USSR officially dissolved, and was transformed into the Russian Federation. #ussr#russia AETATESOLIS

On June 19, 1920, the Council of People's Commissars adopted a decree establishingthe All-Russian Extraordinary Commission for the Elimination of Illiteracy (Всероссийская чрезвычайная комиссия по ликвидации безграмотности, or ВЧК ликбез, ВЧК for short). • ЛИКвидация БЕЗграмотности [lik-vi-da-tsy-ya biz-gra-mat-nas-ti] Elimination of illiteracy Abbreviation: Ликбез 🔻The resolutions of the established commission were mandatory. It was formed to implement the decree on the elimination of illiteracy and oversaw the education of illiterate and semi-literate people. 🔻Anatoly Lunacharsky, the People's Commissar of Education, was responsible for the commission's affairs. 🔻Likbez became a crucial stage in the formation of the Soviet education system, which encompassed various educational institutions for different segments of the population, thereby contributing to the development of science and technology. 🔻Check some more details in the comments👇 Photos: open Internet sources #brief_and_interesting #retrophotos #USSR 😎RCR | Support | Boost
