Tether Inflows Hit $2.7B Amid Bitcoin Drop
Tether inflows surged to $2.7 billion as Bitcoin dropped to $90k, marking the third-highest exchange net inflow recorded. Meanwhile, new Bitcoin whales have accumulated more than all older holders combined over the last year. Market sentiment has reverted to levels from December 2023, following an all-time high just two months prior.
In Latin America, Brazilian MP Adriana Ventura proposed a bill allowing investment funds to buy cryptocurrencies, aimed at diversifying portfolios for institutional investors. In El Salvador, Tether CEO discussed a 70-story skyscraper project reflecting Tether's long-term crypto commitment, despite a decline in crypto remittances. 2021 saw crypto remittances peak at nearly 5% of inflows but have since dropped to below 1%.
